Me & My Muse – Day 500: Tower of Muses: The Fifth Ascent

Once again, we have arrived at another milestone.   A mandatory and objective milestone that will unfortunately and undoubtedly beyond certainty include an almost identical post from Day 400.  I don’t know about you, but with it being the day of a Toastmasters meeting and it being only one week before Thanksgiving, the LAST thing I want to do is spend the next 3-5 hours constructing a profoundly monumental and redundant display of my writing prowess.

I am sure that you are all aware of how things will transpire.  (Another exciting redundancy as usual, but it’s just me this time!  What?  Do you not believe that they are really gone?  Go back and read the end of the 400th entry.  It’s right there, just before the bit where he talks about the Muse laying on the bed with a note attached to her.  Oh dear! That’s going to be a foreshadowing redundancy near the end of this milestone post!  But I digress.  Anyway, you did read that bit in the 400th entry, didn’t you?  Good.  And even if you didn’t read it, let’s pretend that you did.  It clearly states that there will not be a trace of any of those two narrators!  Just look around.  Keep reading on.  You will find that they are not there.  Just me: the Best Narrator to Narrate Narrations.  That’s a coveted prize that I will talk about later.  For now, we will continue with this cheaply contrived recycled piece of milestone rubbish, rife with wit, dry humor, satire and sarcasm.)  I will leave an introspective entry and then shift my point of view to first person. (Blah blah blah.  Redundant again!  How many more times are you going to recycle this?)  I would then provide a predictable reaction from my Muse’s intended absence.

In a sheer attempt at humor, I redundantly acknowledge the composition of this entry.  How I talk about this being another milestone, and that this is just a cheap reconstruction of an entry made 100 days ago.  (Not quite.  I got rid of the two annoying narrators that overredundancied this post.)  How original!  You would have to be exhausted to pull off something like that! How I aware of how things will transpire.  How I would leave an introspective….wait!  This is getting too redundant, and is on the brink of being extremely absurd and ridiculous.  Is it too late to start over?  (Genius!  Considering that you already typed the first two paragraphs, I would just delete them.  I deleted two narrators that I didn’t like.  Why not get rid of the paragraphs?  Just be sure to save my interjections.  They’re pure gold, I tell you!  Nevermind…You kept them…) With that, we will press on.

Blah blah blah….Long profound….wait!  This is redundant!  Wasn’t this mentioned in day 400?  We know what happens next already.  The overdone exposition about the Muse and why she is not here, approaching the tower (Yes. This tower is different from the one that you saw in Day 400.  It always is!  It’s different every 100 posts!) Let’s avoid the redundancy about being redundant, shall we?

But, breaking away from the overly astute sarcastic narrations that get more and more repetitive and redundant with the passing of each 100th post (More repetitive and redundant?  That was getting to be a problem in entry 400 so I devised a solution.  Use only one narrator!  Doesn’t that make a lot more sense?! You see, my intellect was part of what earned me the “Best Narrator to Narrate Narrations” Award.  A coveted award that only two other narrators have ever obtained.  Two narrators that I did not banish forever.  What are you looking at me for?  They deserved it!  With the cluttering of this post with their useless remarks.  Besides, when you are considering the best, there can only be one.  And that’s me!), I notice that this tower is….different.  Yes.  The tower is a little bit taller (About 100 stories taller, to be exact!  My are we smart!), but just to be sure.  We will have a look inside and see….

Time to recycle some text from my previous entry, with some subtle edits to make it resemble something slightly different, with the attempt of sounding original and new, since these milestone posts would be boring without that.  (I’m all for originality!  I cleaned up the “narration of narration” nonsense, since that was left by those other pesky narrators.  Let’s be brave!  Let’s make something slightly different so that no one will ever notice!)

After standing there for a while, I finally entered through the door.  Sure enough, the same field was there (Same field?  We should really change the scenery a little bit.  Maybe in a later one, perhaps?).  I was surrounded by the same lush greenery as before. (The greenery was so green that Kyle started getting a headache from the overwhelming greenness.  So green that all the environmental groups gave this very post their highest award for the amazing greenery and clean air that they could smell when they closed their eyes, trying to imagine a world very much like the greenery in this post.)  Green clovers and wildflowers.  Pink and red roses.  Orange lilies.  Purple daisies.  Pink tulips.  A sea of color.  Nothing was different from what I experienced 100 days ago.  (Except for everything else in this entry that I changed so far.  Oh, it is so amazing having those two narrators gone!)

The colorful flowering sea led to a rather tall structure that sat far in the distance.  A tall structure that looked even taller than before.  Again, this was getting too predictable, having already experienced this before.  And quite redundant.  Every 100 entries, the tower’s a little bigger.  We get it.

The tower looked like an ornately decorated office building – for women.  The pink and white accents ran up and down the gold-adorned structure.  The diamond-studded glass had a pink tint to it.  (Oh please!  The designer can only think of the ladies, can’t she?  Well, I never!)

“A pink office building,” I said to myself.  “Can’t my Muse be any more original?”

Let’s cut to the chase, and find out if this tower really is different.

I got attention of the same receptionist who sat there, typing 100 days back.

“So, is this the same Tower of Muses as before?” I asked her, just to make sure.

My Muse shook her head again and smiled.  “No, silly!  This tower is a little different.  And there’s a teleporter thingy that will take you to the 401st floor!”

I nodded, with a slight grin on my face.  And this was mainly due to the deja vu.  “And this floor is still….”

“Floor 1,” she recited.  “ExperiMENTAL.  Tee hee….”

And of course the Dark Muse, which was then a bad idea, was just beginning to affect my Muse at this time….”Thank you,” I told her, proceeding forward to the mysterious portal that sat past the white service desk just before the elevators.

Upon entering the portal, she was right.  I entered a new room, which resembled a different lobby.  But this lobby had no exit, since this was the 401st floor.

Approaching a service desk decorated with whites and golds, I saw a different Muse sitting there.  But she wasn’t typing.  In fact, she looked up right after I got to this floor.  It was only a split second that I saw her typing…

“Welcome, Kyle.” she announced.  “You are on the “An Unplanned Day and a Muse of Virtue” floor.  This floor is one of my favorites, since it captures who I am, 99 days ago….A Christian Muse and devoted servant of the Lord.”

I nodded, and looked at the elevators that were past her desk.  “I would like to go to floor 500 now.”

At this, my Muse frowned.  “Why?  There are so many good floors!”

I advanced further to the elevators.  I then sighed, and quite deliberately broke the fourth wall.   The overly redundant redundancies have reached their limit for this post!  Would you really want me to actually pick 6 to 8 random floors and stop on them?  Sorry.  It’s not going to happen this time, either.  If you really wish to hear my discussion on the floors, you can visit any one of them by clicking on the links near the bottom of this post.  Okay.  If we don’t visit them, perhaps we should do this instead.  I will briefly recap some of my favorite floors, after I have taken a few minutes to determine what they are.

There.  After several minutes of reviewing all 99 entries, thinking and making a much needed edit over the older text,  I have my list.  It’s right here!  I have it on my lap.  Let’s see….I will put this in list form so that it will be easier for you to read.  My favorite floors are:

Floor 407 – The Refreshing Taste of Oxygen

Refreshing on both counts.  I describe what it’s like to have a day off and briefly preview my first ever outdoor Toastmasters meeting.

Floor 422 – Greatness Awaits…

With a newly bought console in the horizon, what could be greater?  I discuss the greatness that is the PlayStation 4 and my reasons for securing this early Christmas gift.  A must read, for video game geeks and non-video game geeks alike.

Floor 430 – A Day That I Still Never Forget

Who can forget the day that the planes crashed into the World Trade Center?  I can’t, and I never will.  This touching account tells all.  The emotion.  The somberness.  The tragedy that struck the nation and changed it forever.  Read this, but keep some tissues nearby.

Floor 433 – 99 Luftballons

In this amusing account, I talk about my eyewitness account of seeing numerous hot air balloons on my way to work one day.  That’s about it, but it’s still worth a read.

Floor 435 – Fall Preview

A much overdue update about my life, and my plans for the fall season.  What are they?  Read and find out.

Floor 450 – Advancing to Boardwalk Once Again

Monopoly at McDonald’s is back again, and I waste no time talking about my endless pursuit to collect Boardwalk.  The saga begins again at the Golden Arches.  Don’t roll the dice on this one.  Just read.

Floor 451 – Work and Toastmasters Promotion

This entry may be short, but I talk about my recent promotion to President of a Toastmasters club.  A quick read that’s worth glossing over indeed.

Floor 462– Cedar Point HalloWeekends Recap

What can possibly top this?  This one is about my unforgettable trip to Cedar Point with my brother.  The trip was like a roller coaster.  Lots of twists and turns.  It wasn’t perfect, but it was fun.  What are you waiting for?  Read it!

Floor 471 – Leftover Monopoly Game Pieces

With the Monopoly at McDonald’s contest now over, I scored big on game pieces on the last day of the contest.  How did it happen?  Read this and find out, how I scored big…on food prizes.

Floor 480 – Trick or Treat?!!

Halloween for me is a festive time of year.  A fun time to dress up and eat candy.  In this one, I talk about my Halloween traditions and my favorite candy.  This one’s a treat, and I’m not tricking you.  Read it!

Floor 482 – Farewell to Foliage – Salvo Edition

For leaf disposal, what can possibly be better than the Mighty Tarp?  Believe it or not, there actually is something that’s better.  A leaf blower.   A really powerful one.  Don’t believe me?  Read this, and get blown away.

Floor 488 – Regarding Marriage

Controversial subjects were one of the things that I wanted to discuss during this 100 day cycle.  Unfortunately, I was only able to get to one.  This one’s about “mawwiage”, and I discuss in the manner that C.S. Lewis would.  I cover all sides, even the sensitive ones.  Just to warn you, this is a controversial subject, so you may not agree with my views.  Read this.  It’s a good one.

Floor 497 – Toastmasters District 62 Fall Conference Aftermath

In this one, I “explore my sweet possibilities” at what I consider to be the most memorable Toastmasters conferences that I have ever been to.  An awesome speaker.  An awesome speech contest.  What can be better?  Just read this, and you’ll see what I mean.  This is what you missed!

Wow!  It looks like I had lot more favorites than what I thought.   I included a little less than last time!  Maybe I should’ve narrowed the list.  But it’s too late now.  Onward to the 500th floor….

My Muse, having heard the whole conversation, grinned.

“It’s nice how much you know about all those floors,” she told me.  “Especially when you haven’t visited them….”

“Oh, I don’t need to….” I told her.  “I lived them!”

To that, she responded with a timid nod, and I proceeded to the elevators.  I then pressed the up button a few times.  Where are the elevators?  With this many, I would think that at least one would be ready for me! A few seconds later, I entered the first elevator door that opened.  It just happened to be the one next to me.

I entered the elevator and pressed the 500 button.  Moments later, the doors closed.

Several moments passed.  At this point, Kyle decided to be a little more unoriginal and once again reused some material from the previous milestone entry.  Perhaps he’ll make it a little different so that they’ll never notice.  Just enough changes to throw off the audience.  How lazy of him!  Can’t he get his brain thinking of any more original ideas?  But Kyle would have none of that.  He is just as determined to bring this fifth milestone post to an abrupt end.  The good old recycled zinger.  They’ll never notice!  Unless the narrator reminds them….(All things considered, this was the only good narration that I saw.  Since this was inspired from me, I have decided to keep it.  Aren’t I generous?)

Finally, moments later, the elevator arrived at the 500th floor.

Like the 400th floor before it,  this floor was an enormous room, lavishly decorated.  A desk sat in one corner and a king-sized bed sat in the other.  Pretty much the same room as the 400th story, the 300th story, the 200th story and the 100th story before it, only the room was the same size as the 400th story and 300th story and the bed was light blue.

Oh!  We agreed not to meddle with the following paragraph!  As much as we want to, we can’t.  It just wouldn’t be right….  (Again, we decided to keep this, as we agree with the sentiment of this narration.)

And on the bed laid my Muse.  She was fast asleep, with a note attached to her.  It didn’t surprise me that she was sleeping, considering that creating this tower probably took so much out of her.  Now I’m going to guess that the note will mention that the computer in this room will have this entry already typed.    That even includes the later parts that you haven’t seen yet!  Am I right?  And this further adds to the redundancies that exist in this post already!

Attached to her hand was a note.  And this is what it said:

To my master,

I made this tower for you and me.  This is to honor your hard work and dedication for another 100 days of hardship, bringing the total up to 500.  Thank you for your dedication to keeping this project going daily.  If you look at your computer, the last entry is already written.  I am still forever grateful to your kindness, your dedication to saving me and your gratitude.

Love,

Your Muse

I then looked next to the bed and noticed a directory which was much like the 400th floor, the 300th floor, the 200th floor and 100th floor before it.  However, this was the directory for the Tower of Muses, only it covered only the next 100 floors.  I looked at the directory.

The high today is going to be 22 degrees and the silver lining is having this 500th post made.

To all of you who have ever completed a major milestone, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Just like entry 400, she’s right!  The entire entry is typed!  And there’s that message at the end!  Aw…..How thoughtful.  I don’t understand how a narrator got into my post.  But he at least got rid of the other two narrators, so that was nice of him…

Now I’ll….What’s going on?  Just like before!  It’s happening once again!  On the bed!  My Muse is flashing…

Me & My Muse – Day 400: Tower of Muses: The Fourth Ascent

Once again, we have arrived at another milestone.   A mandatory and objective milestone that will unfortunately and undoubtedly beyond certainty include an almost identical post from Day 300.  I don’t know about you, but with it being my birthday today, the LAST thing I want to do is spend the next 3-5 hours constructing a profoundly monumental and redundant display of my writing prowess.

I am sure that you are all aware of how things will transpire.  (Another redundancy.  How did all these other narrators wonder into this entry?  Oh dear.  Perhaps I have damaged the time-space continuum, rupturing the very fabric of time and space.  Why else would there be two other narrators here?  They had to have come from alternate dimensions, yet coincidentally, they resemble our same character.  Unlike the other two, which are a little unpredictable, my annotations will be italicized, enclosed in parentheses.  Looking at the beginning, oh dear!  They have already made a couple slight changes!  But I am already wasting enough of your time, aren’t I?  Time to press on…)  I will leave an introspective entry and then shift my point of view to first person. (Blah blah blah.  Redundant!)  I would then provide a predictable reaction from my Muse’s intended absence.

In a sheer attempt at humor, I redundantly acknowledge the composition of this entry…..again.  How I talk about this being another milestone, and that this is just a cheap reconstruction of an entry made 100 days ago.  How original!  You would have to be exhausted to pull off something like that!   (Either that, or you don’t want to do ANYTHING on your birthday.  Heaven forbid!)  How you are aware of how things will transpire.  How I would leave an introspective….wait!  This is getting too redundant, and is on the brink of being extremely absurd and ridiculous.  Is it too late to start over?  (Genius!  Considering that you already typed the first two…nevermind.  The other narrator already beat me to that annotation.  Such a bother.  I wanted to be first…) It clearly is, considering that you are all able to still see these first two paragraphs.  With that, we will press on.

Blah blah blah….Long profound….wait!  This is redundant!  Wasn’t this mentioned in day 300?  We know what happens next already.  The overdone exposition about the Muse and why she is not here, approaching the tower (Yes. This tower is different from the one that you saw in Day 300.  It always is!  It’s different every 100 posts!)  (It is, and to not confuse anyone, that wasn’t my annotation.  I use italics!)  Let’s avoid the redundancy about being redundant, shall we?

But, breaking away from the overly astute sarcastic narrations that get more and more repetitive and redundant with the passing of each 100th post, I notice that this tower is….different.  Yes.  The tower is a little bit taller (About 100 stories taller, to be exact!  My are we smart!), but just to be sure.  We will have a look inside and see….

Time to recycle some text from my previous entry, with some even more subtle edits to make it resemble something slightly different, with the attempt of sounding original and new, since these milestone posts would be boring without that.  With an additional note stating that there will be even more subtle edits in this one!  (And yet another note saying that these edits will be a little less subtle than before, since we like to mix things up.  Go us.  It’s our birth…No.  It’s his birthday.  Kyle.  The other character.  Happy birthday Kyle!  Sorry that this note is too long!)  Let’s take satire to a whole new level, criticizing the narration of the narration.  (But that’s not enough, isn’t it?  We just took satire up a few more notches by criticizing the narration of the narration of the narration.  Whew!  That’s redundant!)  Oh, we better be careful with this one….

After standing there for a while, I finally entered through the door (once again).  Sure enough, the same field was there (once again, of course.  Wasn’t that edit clever?  But this one was even more clever this time!).  I was surrounded by the same lush greenery as before.  But it was even greener.  Greener than what this narration can describe.  (Oh, we can go greener than that.  It was so green that Kyle started getting a headache from the overwhelming greenness.  So green that all the environmental groups gave this very post their highest award for the amazing greenery and clean air that they could smell when they closed their eyes, trying to imagine a world very much like the greenery in this post.)  Green(er) and greenest clovers and wildflowers.  Pink and red roses.  Orange lilies.  Purple daisies.  Pink tulips.  A sea  ocean of color.  Nothing was different from what I experienced 100 days ago….Except for this slightly different yet repetitive narration, which you will probably yell at for interrupting the flow of the narrative once again.  Really.  Why does he do that?  He’s either trying to be witty, funny, or just stupid.  (I vote for all three.  Seriously.  Interrupting narratives?  I would never do that!  Oh wait.  I just did.  Nevermind…)  Also, the narrator making harsh criticisms at the narration of this post is getting kind of old, don’t you think?  Is he doing this to drive you mad, or does he just find this cheap form of satire amusing?  Okay.  You can stop now.  Stop before you lose the audience.  I said, stop!  Quick!  (I think you lost the weak ones, but the strong ones are ready and raring.  No amount of annoying narrations can phase them.  They’re unstoppable!)

Wait!  That’s sexist!  Shouldn’t the colors and designs be more neutral?  You are going to upset all the gentlemen that will be reading this entry, granted they even get this far from all the redundancies and meta-narrations over lazily inserted edits.  But then that wouldn’t be fair for the ladies now, would it?  Oh dear.  I’m sure that we’re going to be at a stalemate on this one.  Why don’t we make it a color and design that neither gender cares about.  Now that would be the fair thing to do, right?  But upon doing that, the designer of the tower disagreed, being the queen of fashion.

Really. Please!  These meta-narrations and redundancies are getting tiring to read!  (Huh? What?  Sorry.  All of those tiring meta-narrations of narrations and redundancies have put me to sleep.  But I do have to admit.  That was a splendid nap!)

I got attention of the same receptionist who sat there, typing 100 days back.

“So, is this the same Tower of Muses as before?” I asked her, just to make sure.

My Muse shook her head again and smiled (again, since this has already happened before).  “No, silly!  This tower is a little different.  And there’s a teleporter thingy that will take you to the 301st floor!”

Wait a second!  More recently, didn’t the Dark Muse come here to eat the first 100 Muses?  That would mean that the receptionist must have just returned.  But that story arc was over 100 days ago!  Now up to date, let’s get back to the story.

Upon entering the portal, she was right.  I entered a new room, which resembled a different lobby.  But this lobby had no exit, since this was the 301st floor.

Approaching a service desk decorated with oranges, blues, pinks, yellows and greens, I saw a different Muse sitting there.  But she wasn’t typing.  In fact, she got up in a frenzied panic and hid underneath her desk after I got to this floor.  It was only a split second that I saw her typing….

“G-g-go away!” she shouted.  “Y-you almost gave me a panic attack!”

At this, I sighed.  “But what floor am I on?”

The Shy Muse whimpered.  “You’re not going away, are you?”

“Not until you tell me what floor I’m on.” I told her.

The Shy Muse began to twitch in nervous spasms  “Okay fine!  If you’ll go away after this…You are on the “Just Shy” floor.  Now go…ahh!!! You just made me have an accident!  Now go.  Before I die of embarrassment!”

I hurried away, as the Shy Muse magically cleaned her embarrassing mess.  After that, I heard her talking to herself.

“I love this floor, since it describes who I am to a tee, 99 days ago….A completely shy woman.  Is he leaving yet?  I don’t like him being here…”

I looked at the elevators that were past her desk.  “I would like to go to floor 400 now!” I shouted from the distance.

At this, the Shy Muse gasped.  “Eeeep!  You’re still here?  Go ahead!  Whatever gets you off this floor the fastest…”

I advanced further to the elevators.  I once again heard the Shy Muse as she talked to herself.

“Why doesn’t he try the other floors?  Actually, I don’t want him here at all.  I wish that he would leave this tower.  Oh, that would be nice…”

Floor 301 – Just Shy

An entry with a double meaning.  I share what I learned at the Toastmasters Spring Conference and then visit my painfully shy Muse.

Floor 311 – A Little Shy

What’s worse than a shy Muse?  A shy Dark Muse, of course!  My unsuccessful encounter with her tells it all.

Floor 314 – Restless Sunday

Another moody rant?  Don’t get used to them, because this is one of the last ones.  To top that, to satisfy the inner yearnings of my heart, I force the shy Dark Muse to spend a little time with me.  A good one, indeed.

Floor 315 – A Sad Farewell

When a Toastmasters Club is on the verge of closing, it’s never a good thing.  In this one, I recount my memories and say goodbye to a Toastmasters club that I was in for almost five years.

Floor 327 – The Crispy Crab

My first experience ever with a food truck.  A very delicious one at that.  A definite must read.

Floor 334 – Vampires

Do you ever feel like you’re getting your very life sucked out of you?  It can happen with hobbies, relationships and work.  In this one, I share my encounter with my “vampire”, and how I deal with it.

Floor 344 – Where the Passion Lies

My dream of becoming an established writer.  That’s pretty much what this one’s about.  Read it.  DO IT NOW!

Floor 346– Mandatory Fun on the Way

What can be more fun than a piece where I eagerly anticipate the arrival of Weird Al’s final album?  Exactly my point.  Go on and read this one, and order the album while you’re at it.

Floor 348 – New Phone

Sooner or later, my Dumb Phone had to go.  Although it was a Dumb Phone, it was my best friend, and I kept it to the bitter end.  In summary, this one’s about the demise my crimson flip-phone and how I made a new friend with an “extravert”. Heartfelt, riveting and amazing.  Read it and see for yourself.

Floor 359 – The Thirteen Days of Al Begins…

How do you count down the release of Weird Al’s final album?  There’s only one way to do it.  By listening to every one of his past albums in a thirteen day span.  That’s how.

Floor 365 – One Year and Counting

My Muse’s surprise gift, complete with an epically long number loaded with more references to past post titles than what you can shake a stick at!  In this special one-year anniversary tribute, I also have a special conversation with my Muse, and share my future plans regarding this experiment.

Floor 367 – Moving Up

Promotions are good, because I just got one at work.  Read about the excitement here.

Floor 372 – Mandatory Fun

In this one, I share my excitement on Weird Al’s final album and I discover something a little off about my Muse…

Floor 375 – New Car Smell

Besides cleaning the inside of my car, this one is worth noting.  The problems reach a climax when my Muse decides to pay the Shy Muse a visit.  Chaos ensues…

Floor 385 – July, you disappoint me…

In this one, I express my disappointment with the abnormally lower than average July temperatures.  And when the Muse wants to visit the Dark Muse, you know something is very wrong.  The chaos reaches its climax here.  Definitely a must read.

Floor 397 – Pay Day – The Aftermath

What happens on the day after pay day?  I tell you just that.  Also, the dramatic conclusion to the Shy Muse saga! A good ending and a must read.

Wow!  It looks like I had lot more favorites than what I thought.   I even included one more than last time!  Maybe I should’ve narrowed the list.  But it’s too late now.  Onward to the 400th floor….

The Shy Muse, having heard the whole conversation, was in tears, balled up in a fetal position.

“Why won’t you leave?” she wailed.  “My heart is about to give out.  I’m having a panic attack…”

“No you’re not.” I told her, as I conveniently used the executive privileges.  “I’ll be leaving momentarily, so don’t worry about your heart!”

To that, she impatiently whined, completely anxious and jittery.  Not wasting anymore time, I proceeded to the elevators.  I then pressed the up button a few times, like I did last time.  Where are the elevators?  With this many, I would think that at least one would be ready for me! A few seconds later, I entered the first elevator door that opened.  It just happened to be the one next to me.

I entered the elevator and pressed the 400 button.

(Because today is his birthday, and has outsourced all of his creativity.  Sorry, birthday boy.  Happy birthday!  I made you a cake, and it’s not a lie!  Don’t believe me?  Just read the end of the post.  It’s right there, plain as day!)  He is just as determined to bring this fourth milestone post to an abrupt end.  The good old recycled zinger.  They’ll never notice!  Unless the narrator reminds them….Italics!  Of course!  Why didn’t the other narrator think of this?  (Fortunately, I was the one that actually remembered the italics.  Ooh! Bold looks nice, too.  But of course we don’t forget the italics, because we think of everything!)

Finally, moments later, the elevator arrived at the 400th floor.

Like the 300th floor before it,  this floor was an enormous room, lavishly decorated, with everything that you saw before, only more exaggerated.  Blah blah blah….Now for more redundancies!  It was even more enormous and even more lavish.  In fact, so enormous and lavish that it could not get anymore enormous or lavish again.  Just wait until the 400th day.  You’ll see…. And sure enough, I was right.  The room was just as enormous and lavish as before.  How can it get anymore enormous or lavish?  Oh, you didn’t believe me when you read post 300.  I told you that it couldn’t and sure enough everything came to pass.  It’s right there in black and white.  It can’t be changed either, so don’t even bother trying to change it.  A desk sat in one corner and a king-sized bed sat in the other.  Pretty much the same room as the 300th story, the 200th story and the 100th story before it, only the room was the same size as the 300th story (Didn’t think I would catch that detail, huh?  Remember the fine print on post 300…) and the bed was light blue.

Oh!  We agreed not to meddle with the following paragraph!  As much as we want to, we can’t.  It just wouldn’t be right….  (Enough already!  All of these other narrators are getting annoying!  Other? Yes.  I know that there are only two other narrators but they have sang their last song.  I’m very sorry that I have to do this, but they leave me with no other choice.  Narrators!  Both of you!  You have redundancied your last redundancy.  You think that it’s cute and cheeky to apply sharp criticisms rife with sarcasm to various segments of this milestone post?  That’s my job!  There’s only room enough for one narrator around here.  Any last words before I banish you to the infinite realm of sadness?)  You are a cheeky (Uh uh uh!  Kyle doesn’t want any profanity in this post.)  Fine!  Good clean fun it is.  What gives you any right to get rid of me?  I was here first… (And I came second, like someone late to the party.  Don’t I get any consolation prize?)  (You do.  You get to say goodbye forever.  Three narrators in one post is too much, don’t you think?) We were just fine before you came.  And us, too!  We don’t always use parentheses, you know.  (But I do, and it pains me to say this.  Goodbye forever!  May you both never redundancy a post again.  Farewell!  Parting is such sweet sorrow…)  Noooooooooo!!!!  I should’ve never made my remarks in the first place…  (And if you don’t think they’re gone, just check the 500th post!  There won’t be a trace of them!  You’ll see…Oh.  And I’ll see you in the next edition.  Ta ta!)

This is to honor your hard work and dedication for another 100 days of hardship, bringing the total up to 400.  Thank you for your dedication to keeping this project going daily.  If you look at your computer, the last entry is already written.  I am still forever grateful to your kindness, your dedication to saving me and your gratitude.

Love,

Your Muse

P.S. Happy Birthday!

I then looked next to the bed and noticed a directory which was much like the 300th floor, the 200th floor and 100th floor before it.  However, this was the directory for the Tower of Muses, only it covered only the next 100 floors.  I looked at the directory.

The high today is going to be 72 degrees and the silver lining is having this 400th post made.

To all of you who have ever completed a major milestone, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Just like entry 300, she’s right!  The entire entry is typed!  And there’s that message at the end!  Aw…..How thoughtful.  I don’t understand how a narrator got into my post….And it looks like another one got in too!  And a third one?  He gets rid of the first two and it’s just one again.  Oh well…

Huh?  What’s this cake doing here?  Oh yeah!  It’s not a lie!  Thanks narrator…

Now I’ll….What’s going on?  Just like before!  It’s happening once again!  On the bed!  My Muse is flashing….

Me & My Muse – Day 300: Tower of Muses: The Third Ascent

Once again, we have arrived at another milestone.   A milestone that will unfortunately include an almost identical post from Day 200.  I don’t know about you, but after coming back from a Toastmasters Conference, the LAST thing I want to do is spend the next 3-5 hours constructing a profoundly monumental display of my writing prowess.

I am sure that you are all aware of how things will transpire.  I will leave an introspective entry and then shift my point of view to first person.  I would then provide a predictable reaction from my Muse’s intended absence.

In a sheer attempt at humor, I redundantly acknowledge the composition of this entry…..again.  How I talk about this being another milestone, and that this is just a cheap reconstruction of an entry made 100 days ago.  How original!  You would have to be exhausted to pull off something like that!    How you are aware of how things will transpire.  How I would leave an introspective….wait!  This is getting too redundant, and is on the brink of being extremely absurd and ridiculous.  Is it too late to start over?  It clearly is, considering that you are all able to still see these first two paragraphs.  With that, we will press on.

Blah blah blah….Long profound….wait!  This is redundant!  Wasn’t this mentioned in day 200?  We know what happens next already.  The exposition about the Muse and why she is not here, approaching the tower (Yes. This tower is different from the one that you saw in Day 200.  It always is!  It’s different every 100 posts!)  Let’s avoid the redundancy about being redundant, shall we?

But, breaking away from the overly astute sarcastic narration, I notice that this tower is….different.  Yes.  The tower is a little bit taller, but just to be sure.  We will have a look inside and see….

Time to recycle some text from my previous entry, with some subtle edits to make it resemble something slightly different.  With an additional note stating that there will be even more subtle edits in this one!  Let’s take satire to a whole new level, criticizing the narration of the narration.  Oh, we better be careful with this one….

After standing there for a while, I finally entered through the door (again).  Sure enough, the same field was there (once again, of course.  Wasn’t that edit clever?).  I was surrounded by the same lush greenery as before.  But it was even greener.  Greener than what this narration can describe.  Green(er) clovers and wildflowers.  Pink and red roses.  Orange lilies.  Purple daisies.  Pink tulips.  A sea  ocean of color.  Nothing was different from what I experienced 100 days ago….Except for this slightly different narration, which you will probably yell at for interrupting the flow of the narrative once again.  Really.  Why does he do that?  He’s either trying to be witty, funny, or just stupid.  Also, the narrator making harsh criticisms at the narration of this post is getting kind of old, don’t you think?  Is he doing this to drive you mad, or does he just find this cheap form of satire amusing?  Okay.  You can stop now.  Stop before you lose the audience.  I said, stop!  Quick!

The pink and white accents ran up and down the gold-adorned structure.  The diamond-studded glass had a pink tint to it.

“A pink office building,” I said to myself.  “Can’t my Muse be any more original?”

Let’s cut to the chase, and find out if this tower really is different.  Really. Please!  These meta-narrations and redundancies are getting tiring to read!

I got attention of the same receptionist who sat there, typing 100 days back.

“So, is this the same Tower of Muses as before?” I asked her, just to make sure.

My Muse shook her head again and smiled (again, since this has already happened before).  “No, silly!  This tower is a little different.  And there’s a teleporter thingy that will take you to the 201st floor!”

Wait a second!  More recently, didn’t the Dark Muse come here to eat the first 100 Muses?  That would mean that the receptionist must have just returned.  Now up to date, let’s get back to the story.

Upon entering the portal, she was right.  I entered a new room, which resembled a different lobby.  But this lobby had no exit, since this was the 201st floor.

Approaching a purple and gold colored service desk, I saw a different Muse sitting there.  But she wasn’t typing.  In fact, she looked up right after I got to this floor.  It was only a split second that I saw her typing….

“Welcome, peasant.” she announced.  “You are on the “New Snow, New Muse” floor.  This floor is one of my favorites, since it captures who I am, 99 days ago….A wealthy and beautiful woman.  Now be gone!  Your type is not allowed here!”

I nodded, and looked at the elevators that were past her desk.  “I would like to go to floor 300 now.”

At this, the Spoiled Rich Muse scowled.  “Get lost!  I don’t even want you in this tower!”

I then sighed, and quite deliberately broke the fourth wall.   The redundancies have reached their limit for this post!

Floor 208 – I am Error: Part II

A frustrating account explaining another computer problem, and why I was going to be without it for a while.  A memorable post and a must read.

Floors 209-215 – A City, An Invention, A Fish, A Borrower, A Castle and A Bathhouse….

Why all these posts?  They all follow a theme, and each detail my week of watching anime movies.  Mostly Miyazaki if you’re curious.

Floor 221 – Happy Hallmark Day….

A date with a Muse?  Why not?  I enjoyed writing this one.  Read it and you’ll see why.

Floor 251 – No Turning Back, No Holding Back

After a special service at my Church, how could I not mention this?  This mentioned an important prayer that me and the entire congregation said as one.  Read this and see.  Yes.  It’s THAT important to me and it still is!

Floor 261 – Short and Sweet 77 – Invasion: Part II

A fun post regarding the Dark Muse carrying out her “invasion”.  Who can resist her?

Floor 262 – Oil Change

Believe it or not, it’s not the oil change that I like this entry for.  But the continuation of the chaos from the day before.  And when you combine the Spoiled Rich Muse with the Dark Muse, it can only mean chaos.  Spoiled little brat.  Well, okay.  She’s not little.

Floor 266 – Taxed to the Limit

I love this one.  What can be better than faking this?  What do I mean?  Ah!  I got your attention!  Click below and find out.

Floor 275 – Little Miss Princess Strikes Again

Little?  That’s a misnomer.  She’s huge!  Gigantic!  And that’s not the worst of it.  I must do her bidding, or else.

Floor 281 – It’s Spring, DANG IT!!!!

Hating snow in April was not enough.  I had to show a picture of it.  This entry is complete with a brat that makes it snow even more.  Great.

Floor 282 – Job Impossible

An original concept.  Make searching for a job like a secret mission.

Floor 283 – Let Me In!

Why did I include this?  It had to be the fake rejection letter.  It’s too hilarious not to read.

Floor 291 – Long Shift, No Reward

Another rant, but this one’s a good one.  And don’t worry.  It ends well.  I promise.

Floor 296 – Creating a Sensation

How do you create a sensation?  You create a post explaining why you make all these posts every day.  Oh, and everything about why I have a Muse is explained too.  Definitely worth checking out.

Floor 297 – Try Hard-er

What happens when you try hard-er?  The result is something that’s beyond amazing.  It’s reality.  It’s poetry laced with cynicism.  It’s revealing the naked truth about who I really am and what I yearn for.  Quite possibly the best Me & My Muse that I have written yet, and you would be a fool not to check it out.

Wow!  It looks like I had lot more favorites than what I thought.   I even included one more than last time!  Maybe I should’ve narrowed the list.  But it’s too late now.  Onward to the 300th floor….

The Spoiled Rich Muse, having heard the whole conversation, was furious.

“What are you still doing here?!” she shouted.  “I said LEAVE, you pitiful peasant!”

“Don’t worry!” I told her.  “You won’t see me again!”

To that, she scowled, and I proceeded to the elevators.  I then pressed the up button a few times, like I did last time.  Where are the elevators?  With this many, I would think that at least one would be ready for me! A few seconds later, I entered the first elevator door that opened.  It just happened to be the one next to me.

I entered the elevator and pressed the 300 button.  Moments later, the doors closed.

Finally, moments later, the elevator arrived at the 300th floor.

Like the 200th floor before it,  this floor was an enormous room, lavishly decorated, with everything that you saw before, only more exaggerated.  Blah blah blah….Now for more redundancies!  It was even more enormous and even more lavish.  In fact, so enormous and lavish that it could not get anymore enormous or lavish again.  Just wait until the 400th day.  You’ll see….  A desk sat in one corner and a king-sized bed sat in the other.  Pretty much the same room as the 200th story and the 100th story before it, only the room was a little bigger and the bed was light blue.

I then looked next to the bed and noticed a directory which was much like the 200th floor and 100th floor before it.  However, this was the directory for the Tower of Muses, only it covered only the next 100 floors.  I looked at the directory.

The high today is going to be 56 degrees and the silver lining is having this 300th post made.

To all of you who have ever completed a major milestone, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Just like entry 200, she’s right!  The entire entry is typed!  And there’s that message at the end!  Aw…..How thoughtful.  I don’t understand how a narrator got into my post….And it looks like another one got in too!  Oh well….

Now I’ll….What’s going on?  Just like before!  It’s happening again!  On the bed!  My Muse is flashing….

Me & My Muse – Day 200: Tower of Muses: The Second Ascent

Once again, we have arrived at another milestone.   I am sure that you are all aware of how things will transpire.  I will leave an introspective entry and then shift my point of view to first person.  I would then provide a predictable reaction from my Muse’s intended absence.

In a sheer attempt at humor, I redundantly acknowledge the composition of this entry.  How I talk about this being another milestone.

Blah blah blah….Long profound exposition about my Muse and why she is not here….Let’s skip that this time, as we have already shown ourselves to be quite redundant in our attempt at composing a milestone entry.  In fact, let us skip all the way to where I approach the tower.  Of course!  You knew there was going to be another tower, right?  It says so right there in the title!

After standing there for a while, I finally entered through the door.  Sure enough, the same field was there.  I was surrounded by the same lush greenery as before.  Green clovers and wildflowers.  Pink and red roses.  Orange lilies.  Purple daisies.  Pink tulips.  A sea of color.  Nothing was different from what I experienced 100 days ago….

The colorful flowering sea led to a rather tall structure that sat far in the distance.  Again, this was getting too predictable, having already experienced this before.

The tower looked like an office building – for women.  The pink and white accents ran up and down the structure.  The glass had a pink tint to it.

My Muse shook her head and smiled.  “No, silly!  This tower is a little different.  And there’s a teleporter thingy that will take you to the 101st floor!”

I nodded, with a slight grin on my face.

But this lobby had no exit, since this was the 101st floor.

Approaching a brown colored service desk, I saw a different Muse sitting there.  But she wasn’t typing.  In fact, she looked up right after I got to this floor.  It was only a split second that I saw her typing….

“Welcome, Kyle.” she announced.  “You are on the “The New Muse” floor.  This floor is one of my favorites, since it captures who I am, 99 days ago….”

I nodded, and looked at the elevators that were past her desk.  “I would like to go to floor 200 now.”

At this, my Muse frowned.  “Why?  There are so many good floors!”

I then sighed, and quite deliberately broke the fourth wall.   The redundancies have reached their limit for this post!  Would you really want me to actually pick 6 to 8 random floors and stop on them?  Okay.  If we don’t visit them, perhaps we should do this instead.  I will briefly recap some of my favorite floors, after I have taken a few minutes to determine what they are.

There.  After several minutes of reviewing all 99 entries, thinking and taking a much needed bathroom break,  I have my list.  It’s right here!  I have it on my lap.  Let’s see….I will put this in list form so that it will be easier for you to read.  My favorite floors are:

Floor 111 – Fall Toastmaster Conference Aftermath

A thoughtful account about a memorable Toastmasters conference.

Floor 113 – I am Error

A frustrating account about a computer problem.

Floor 115 – Trick or Treat?!

Why did I include this in my favorites?  Candy, of course!

Floor 120 – Tired

This was when I was tired of….everything.  Posting these entries and working in a menial job.  Let’s be glad I didn’t stop, huh?

Floor 123 – The Road to Success

Mind you, this is the Road to Success as defined by me.  Your definition may be different than mine.

Floor 133 – A Golden Opportunity

A memorable post indeed.  I talk about the Toastmasters Educational Program and my Muse gets involved in Toastmasters.  And a power outage the same night?  What can top this?

Floor 138 – Snow Way!

I talk about the first snow of the season, and my Muse shares her true identity….

Floor 146 – O Christmas Tree

Christmas Tree memories are really good, aren’t they?  That’s why this is in the list….

Floor 151 – Part Time Jobs Suck

Don’t you agree?  Another rant, but a good one!

Floor 170 – Merry Christmas!

The most wonderful time of the year.  I also put an end to the Dark Muse’s most recent appearance.

Floor 182 – Using a Snow Blower is NOT Cheating!

Especially when you have used the shovel so many times.  I’ve earned my right to snow plow.  Read this entry and you will agree.

Floor 186 – Waiting to Exhale

Thoughtful, yes.  A plethora of events and how I prepare for them.

Floor 197 – Self Assessment

This is a good one.  I assess myself to troubleshoot my employability.  It’s a must read.

Wow!  It looks like I had lot more favorites than what I thought.  Maybe I should’ve narrowed the list.  But it’s too late now.  Onward to the 200th floor….

I entered the elevator and pressed the 200 button.  Moments later, the doors closed.

Several moments passed.  At this point, Kyle decided to be a little more unoriginal and once again reused some material from the previous milestone entry.  Perhaps he’ll make it a little different so that they’ll never notice.  How lazy of him!  Can’t he get his brain thinking of any more original ideas?  But Kyle would have none of that.  He is just as determined to bring this milestone post to an abrupt end.  The good old recycled zinger.  They’ll never notice!  Unless the narrator reminds them….

Finally, moments later, the elevator arrived at the 200th floor.

Like the 100th floor before it,  this floor was an enormous room, lavishly decorated.  But it was even more enormous and even more lavish.  A desk sat in one corner and a king-sized bed sat in the other.  Pretty much the same room as the 100th story, only the room was a little bigger and the bed was light blue.

This is to honor your hard work and dedication for another 100 days of hardship, bringing the total up to 200.  Thank you for your dedication to keeping this project going daily.  If you look at your computer, the last entry is already written.  I am still forever grateful to your kindness, your dedication to saving me and your gratitude.

Love,

Your Muse

I then looked next to the bed and noticed a directory which was much like the 100th floor.  However, this was the directory for the Tower of Muses, only it covered only the next 100 floors.  I looked at the directory.

The high today is going to be 16 degrees and the silver lining is having this 200th post made.

To all of you who have ever completed a major milestone, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Just like entry 100, she’s right!  The entire entry is typed!  And there’s that message at the end!  Aw…..How thoughtful.  I don’t understand how a narrator got into my post….Oh well….

Now I’ll….What’s going on?  Just like before!  On the bed!  My Muse is flashing….

Me & My Muse – Day 100: Tower of Muses

My Muse has been quiet since yesterday.  Since that conversation that I had with her in private, she has just been keeping to herself.  I hope that I didn’t put her off with what I told her.  Was it something I said?

The things that I told her.  I need not tell you all of them, since most of them are quite personal.  All I will tell you is that it pertains to her recovery, and it had to do with her embarrassing things that she experienced yesterday.

Now, for all of you who have read yesterday’s entry (all two of you, according to my site’s analytics), you didn’t make fun of her, did you?  Everyone has experienced a low point at least once in their life.  And that low point, particularly for my Muse, was quite embarrassing for her.  And for the low point that you have experienced, I’m sure that it was shameful and embarrassing to you as well.  So if you didn’t make fun of her, I appreciate your level of maturity.  All of us are adults, so we don’t need to have a juvenile attitude about the unfortunate circumstances that various people face, whether they’re real or imaginary.

Well, normally my Muse would come out of my head by this time, and she’s not.  With that being the case, I will end it here…..

What’s that?  For your convenience, I will shift the point of view from second person, to a first person narrative.  The remainder of this entry will be expressed in this manner.

All of a sudden, as I finished my explanation about my conversation with my Muse and was about to end another entry, I saw a flash.  This flash nearly blinded my eyes, so I had to look back for a second.

When l looked back again, the flash had faded into a bright glow.  A door sat there.  A door that looked familiar.  A door that sat in the middle of the living room, not attached to any wall.  A door that begged to be opened.

Glancing at the door, I hesitated no longer.  I grabbed the knob and turned it.  I opened the door….

What could be behind this door?  Having seen a door like this before, I knew that it was a dimensional portal that was linked to another world.  A distant land that I have visited before.

Giving this some more thought, it hit me.  I have seen this door before!  It was in Think & Write #100.  The door there led to a field with a 100 story office tower, comprising every one of my past Think & Writes.  A tower in the middle of nowhere.

After standing there for a while, I finally entered through the door.  Sure enough, the same field was there.  I was surrounded by the lush greenery.  Green clovers and wildflowers.  Pink and red roses.  Orange lilies.  Purple daisies.  Pink tulips.  A sea of color.

The colorful flowering sea led to a rather tall structure that sat far in the distance.  Again, this was getting too predictable, having already experienced this before.

The tower looked like an office building – for women.  The pink and white accents ran up and down the structure.  The glass had a pink tint to it.

“A pink office building,” I said to myself.  “Can’t my Muse be any more original?”

As I walked towards the tower, I noticed the trees that encircled the boundary of the field of color.  It was done in a long oval shape, with pines, oaks, cedars, poplars, birches, and a few redwoods.  But the tower dwarfed them all.

I then approached the out-of-place tower.  A tower like this belongs in the city.  For it to exist in the wilderness is a paradox in itself.  Furthermore, the pink and white design produces a strong feminine vibe.  A vibe that loudly declares  “This tower was made for women, not men.  If you are a man, get out!  You don’t belong here.”

But that didn’t stop me.  I glanced at the lavishly decorated facade that marked the entrance.  It was a figure of a woman, richly decorated in gold and diamonds.  The diamonds marked her eyes and outlined her entire body, including her breasts.  The figure was appropriately covered, with the diamonds marking where the bulges were in her 24-carat garment.

I walked inside and was immediately surrounded by pink.  Pink and white checkered tiles made of marble.  Pink and white sashes hanging in wide arcs throughout the ceiling.  The colors of the walls alternated between pink and white.  A white service desk sat in the middle of the lobby.

And, of course, a receptionist sat there, hard at work, making rapid strokes on the keyboard.  When the receptionist caught a glance of me, I saw her face.  Sure enough, it was my Muse, only she was an adult.

“So, is this the Tower of Ideas?”  I asked her.

My Muse shook her head and gave me a widening smile.  “No it isn’t!  This is the Tower of Muses.”

“Tower of Muses?” I asked.  “That means, there are other Muses here.”

My Muse nodded.  “And that’s okay with me, since they’re all a bunch of me’s.  I mean, I wouldn’t want you with any other Muse.  By the way, I’m surprised that you made it this far.”

When she said this, I thought she meant how far I traveled, so I gave her a stupid reply.  “Yes. I did travel quite far to get here….”

My Muse frowned.  “That is not what I meant.  What I mean is that you are on Day 100 of this whole thing.  It’s crazy how it all happened.  They hired me as the receptionist and now I manage all appointments for this whole tower.”

If you know me, I catch on very quickly.  Ignoring my stupid mistake, I nodded.  “And this floor is the first Me & My Muse – ExperiMENTAL, right?”

My Muse nodded with a gasp.  “You’re….right!  Still, I think it’s a stupid title.”

“Stupid or not, this whole tower exists now, and I am going to explore it.  You don’t need to tell me where the elevators are, since the layout is similar to the Tower of Ideas.”

My Muse gave the nod of approval.  “Go on ahead! I’m sure the other me’s will be happy to see you!”

Getting very eager, I ran to the elevators and pressed the up button until the elevator door opened.  When it did, I entered.

Looking at the elevator panel, I looked at the 100 buttons (there were actually more than that, since the additional ones were used for maintenance).  Having made so many of these before, I tried to think of all my favorites.  When I finally did this, I pressed 10 on the panel.  The elevator door closed.  The elevator went upward in a soft hum.

Moments later, the elevator door opened.  “Coffee is not for Muses, huh?” I smirked, referencing the title.

To my surprise, my Muse was not in the room.  Disappointed, I went around the floor, looking for her.  I walked around hallways and opened various rooms.  At the end of the hallway, I found a door that was opened just a crack.  Opening that door, I found myself in a bedroom, with another door that was opened halfway.  This door led to the bathroom, and I entered it.

There my Muse sat, soaked in urine from the waist down.

“Do you mind?”  My Muse shouted, her face reddening.  “I just peed myself from drinking too much coffee!  Finish giving me a shower and don’t record any more of this!”

Honoring her request, I nodded, and promptly left the bathroom.  I’ll clean her later.  Or at least, my clone from that time will.

I left the bedroom and walked down the long hallway back to the elevator.  I pressed the up button and the door opened again.  I entered, scratching my head.  “Where to next?” I said to myself.  That answer was quickly resolved.  I pressed 14 and smiled.

Seconds later, the elevator doors opened.  Upon exiting I heard the faint sound of music.  It sounded like “Resistance” by the band Muse.  As I walked closer to the music’s source, the song got louder and louder.  I was right.

Halfway down the hallway, I opened the door to find my Muse with three other Muses, singing “Resistance”.

“Love is our resistance!!!!!” They all sang in unison.

While they were singing, I smiled, as I allowed the amazing melody to permeate my body.  The ambiance of the song almost had me in a trance, but I snapped out of it near the song’s ending.

When the song was over, I smiled and stared at my Muse.  “You really like that song, don’t you?” I told her.

My Muse smiled.  “I do!  I just found out about them! I love this band!”

“Good.  I’m going to continue upward, okay?”

My Muse nodded, and began the same song once again.

The other three Muses, however, followed me outside the room.

As I walked back to the elevator with the Muses, I took a careful look at them.  Two of them were adults and one of them was only five years old.  Curious of what they were doing, I followed them to the same elevator.

Finally, after we all entered the elevator, curiosity got the best of me.  “Where are you all going?” I asked the Muses.

“33!” The first one said.

“55!” The second one said.

“81!” The third one said, who was the youngest.

After I glancing at the panel, I noticed that something was wrong.  There were two 23’s!  The second “23” was after 60.  It was where 61 should be.  Full of curiosity, I pressed that button.

As the elevator made its ascent upward, the Muses all began playing with each other.  They did something that annoyed me, called the tee hee contest.  The objective was clear.  Say “tee hee” as many times as possible in thirty seconds.  The winner is the one who said it the most.  All in all, it was a stupid game, and it really annoyed me.

Several “tee hee’s” later, the elevator stopped on the 33rd floor.  This was the “Grow Up” floor.  The elevator door opened and the first Muse stepped out of it.

When the elevator door closed, the “tee hee”ing continued.  Numerous “tee hee’s” came from both of the muses:  “Tee hee! Tee hee! Tee hee! Tee hee! Tee hee! Tee hee! Tee hee! Tee hee! Tee hee! Tee hee! Tee hee! Tee hee! Tee hee! Tee hee! Tee hee! Tee hee!”  It drove me crazy.

Suddenly, the elevator stopped on the 43rd floor for some reason.  When the door opened, a baby Muse stood there.  Looking only two, she walked in bashfully.

Meanwhile, the other Muses were still doing their contest.  “I win!” The youngest one shouted.

The baby Muse, on the other hand, was in awe when she saw all the buttons.  “Buttons!” She shouted.  She ran up to the panel and began pressing each one.  “I push button!” she shouted, for each button that she pressed.  “I push button! I push button! I push button! I push button!  I push button!”

She did this until all 100 buttons were pressed.  With that, the elevator made its slow ascent, stopping on each floor.

“No!” I shouted in agony.   “That’s a no-no!”

After stopping on five floors, I noticed a button in the maintenance panel.  It read “cancel”.  Desperate to leave this two-year old, I pressed it.  All the lit up buttons turned off.  That button just cancelled all the other floors!  That was a big relief for me.

“You push button?” the baby Muse said, casting an accusatory stare at me and frowning.  “No!  I push button!”  And with that, she ran back over to the elevator button panel.

But before she could press any buttons, I yanked her away.  “No no.”  I said, speaking in a condescending voice.  “No pushing buttons, okay?”

“But I wanna push button!” she whined.

Meanwhile, the other two Muses pushed their respective buttons again.  The older one pushed 55 and the younger one pushed 81.

Moments later (which felt like an eternity since I was holding back a whiny two-year old Muse), the elevator stopped on the 55th floor.  This was the “Growing Pains” floor.  The second Muse exited the elevator and the door closed again.

Suddenly, I noticed that I forgot to press the button to my floor again.  Holding the baby Muse back in one hand, I pressed the button to the second 23 with the other.

This was a big mistake.  “I WANNA PUSH BUTTON!”  the baby Muse screamed, trying to squirm loose from my grip.

As that elevator neared the 23rd floor (61st floor), the toddler managed to squirm loose.  She joyfully ran her little fingers up and down the panel, shouting “I push button!”.

But it didn’t matter.  The next floor was the floor I wanted.  The second 23rd floor.  I ran off as fast as I could.

“Bye!” the third Muse shouted as the elevator doors closed.

I sighed with relief.  But that relief became despair when I realized something tugging at my hand.  It was the baby Muse.  She got off the elevator with me!

“You be a good girl if you’re with me!” I told her in a stern voice.

“I be good girl!” she shouted.  “I be good girl!”

As I walked down the hallway, I noticed a copy of myself coming out of one of the rooms.

“Another Kyle?” the copy gasped.  “What?  That’s pretty weird!  Tee hee!”

Then it hit me.  This was the “Role Reversal” floor.

“Enjoying my body?” I asked my Muse.

My copy nodded.  “Your body is amazing!  Tee hee!  I wish that I was Tangible everyday!”

All of a sudden, the baby Muse shouted.  “Uh oh!”

“Uh oh?”  I gasped.  “What is it?”

The baby Muse glanced down at the bottom of her dress.  “Uh oh!” she repeated.

That’s when I noticed a drop of urine drip down from under her dress to the floor.  Uh oh indeed!  I need to get her back to her own floor!

I quickly said bye to my copy and grabbed the Baby Muse by the hand.  I took her back to the elevator.

“Where are the diapers?” I asked her.

The baby Muse magically produced one in her hand.  After that, I changed her, and pushed the up button on the elevator.  The elevator opened and we both walked inside.

I then decided to go to the 67th floor.  I pressed that and waited.  A short time later, the elevator door opened and we both got out.

The 67th floor was “Now You’re Speaking my Language”.   I searched the floor and found my Muse in one of the last rooms.

“Ni pimqi vota Zorpoza!” I said to her, showing off my Zorpozian.

“Urr!” My Muse shouted.  “Translate it for those who don’t understand!  He said ‘I love speaking Zorpozian’, by the way.”

“Zoqa zik zaz’o yizi nin, Ni biqom zwoa imua.”  I said, continuing to show off.

“Translate!” My Muse screamed.  “You said ‘Having this baby girl with me, I can’t stay here.’  Good!  I won’t have to translate your stupid language any longer!”

“Xoam!” I shouted.

“Bye!” she translated.

I hurriedly took the baby Muse into the elevator and pressed 84 without looking. Moments later, the door opened and I exited the elevator with her.

How did I get here? My brain suddenly flipped around.  I’ll leave in reverse!  I know!  How do I leave if everything is backwards?

With that, I tried to leave, only to realize that everything was backwards, since this was the “Stuck in Reverse” floor. I was supposed to be on the 84th floor!  This is the wrong floor!  I quickly got back inside the elevator and pushed 84.  I then realized that I was on the 78th floor.

To my amazement, the elevator moved upward.  When I saw this, I let out a sigh of relief.  Being on a floor where everything is backwards is dangerous, because you might never escape.

Just as we neared the 84th floor, the baby Muse sat there and pointed at the bottom of her dress again.  “Uh oh!” she shouted.  “Uh oh!  Uh oh!”

The elevator door opened on the 84th floor and I took her out.  “No!” I told her, shouting.  “You will be a baby for a while, and then you’ll be tired of it.  That’s how the entry ends.  I know because I lived it.  So good bye!”

Without any hesitation, I left the “Baby Muse” floor and pressed the 100 button as quick as I could.  I pressed it several times before the elevator doors started to close.

“Change me, daddy!” the baby Muse shouted, extending her hands out as the elevator doors closed.

Finally, moments later, the elevator arrived at the 100th floor.

The floor was an enormous room, lavishly decorated.  A desk sat in one corner and a king-sized bed sat in the other.  Pretty much the same room as Tower of Ideas, only the bed was pink.

And on the bed laid my Muse.  She was still five years old and fast asleep, with a note attached to her.  It didn’t surprise me that she was sleeping, considering that creating this tower probably took so much out of her.

Attached to her hand was a note.  And this is what it said:

To my master,

I made this tower for you and me.  This is to honor your hard work and dedication for your 100 days of hardship.  Thank you for setting me free from that wretched idea.  Tee hee!  If you look at your computer, the last entry is already written.  I am forever grateful to your kindness, your dedication to saving me and your gratitude.

Love,

Your Muse

I then looked next to the bed and noticed a directory which was much like the Tower of Ideas.  However, this was the directory for the Tower of Muses.  I looked at the directory.
