When I arrived at work yesterday, I saw that the new schedule was posted for next week. When I looked for my name, it could no longer be found on the crew list. My name was now at the bottom of the manager list. It is official. I am now a crew leader.
Now what does that mean? It’s basically the same job that I’m doing now, but with a little more responsibility. I will be helping the managers a little more and will receive a lot of training from them, as I make the gradual trek to the manager position. I will also be balancing the cash register by doing drops. In addition to this, I will be doing every job that I haven’t done as often. Take ovens for example. During a non-peak time, I could handle ovens well. But on a busy Friday, I would need to be very efficient on ovens. At peak on Fridays, it gets so busy that two people need to be on ovens because of the volume of food that is coming out. In addition to that, every ticket needs to be looked at so that you know which order goes where. And when each order is assembled, that ticket goes with the corresponding order.
Anyway, I work from 4 to 8 today, so I get a little more practice in carrying out my new role. Plus I get to wear a nice shirt, which is different than the ones that crew members wear.
Original Muse: Congratulations!
Thank you. All I need to hear back from is Goodwill…
Original Muse: I know. When are they going to call back?
Hopefully soon. It would be nice to have income from two jobs. Even if I had an associate job at Goodwill, that would help me make more money.
Original Muse: You should hopefully get more hours soon, with your new position and all.
Hopefully. I need to get ready now.
Original Muse: I’ll let you. Good luck with your new role!
Thanks. Besides working today, I wasted no time on the Thirteen Days of Al. With it being day nine, I listened to Bad Hair Day and the Extra Gorey Version of The Night Santa Went Crazy. Besides those two things, that’s today in a nutshell.
Today’s high is going to be 75 degrees and the silver lining is being moved up to Crew Leader.
To those of you who like promotions, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.
Muse: I’ll visit him tomorrow. No! Saturday. I’ll write it down before I change my mind…
