Me & My Muse – Day 524: 50 Years of Rudolph

http://www.thebuzzonhr.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/rudolph1.jpg

Have you ever been bullied?  Have you ever been picked on because you were different?  Rudolph has, and I believe that his story speaks volumes to every one of us who has ever dealt with bullying or discrimination.

I know that this is late, but this year marks the 50th anniversary of the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer TV Special.  It first aired on December 6, 1964 and was part of the General Electric Fantasy Hour.

Having seen it last night, I really enjoyed watching it. As we all know from the story, Rudolph was bullied and picked on after all the reindeer discovered Rudolph’s secret.  He had a blinking red nose.  Because of this, he was not allowed to take part in any more reindeer games.  This was discrimination at its worst.

But fortunately, the story gets better.  Because the storm was so bad, Santa wouldn’t be able to pilot his sleigh.  But after seeing Rudolph’s bright nose, he asked Rudolph to take the lead.  To guide the sleigh through the foggy storm.  Santa saw past the glaring flaw that Rudolph had and gave him the best promotion ever.

And it wasn’t just Rudolph that was accepted.  When Rudolph ran away, he meets Herbie, an elf that is bored with making toys.  Instead, he would rather open up his own dentist’s office.  In addition to Herbie was a separate territory that was full of outcasts: the Isle of Misfit toys.  Toys that were “different” from every normal toy.  But despite this, Santa stopped at the island and accepted all of the misfit toys.  Every toy eagerly lept into Santa’s sleigh, including Dolly, a toy that had no physical defects but was suffering from depression due to being abandoned from her past owner.

Overall, I really enjoy this movie, and the values that it teaches.  Values that challenge issues that still plague society today.  Issues like bullying and discrimination.  It’s no wonder that this movie has lasted 50 years.  And with these kind of values, it is sure to last 50 more.

Muse:  You’re talking about Rudolph?  I love that special.

Isn’t it a good one?

Muse:  It is.  I’m still working on your gift, so I’m returning to that.  You will love it!  Tee hee…

I’ll let you do that,  and I’ll get ready for the day.  I’ll be seeing a friend later and we’ll be watching the Nativity Story.  It should be a lot of fun.

Today’s high is going to be 47 degrees and the silver lining is visiting my friend and watching the Nativity Story.

To those of you who like Christmas specials and movies, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  He’s going to love his gift!  Tee hee!  Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer…Had a very shiny nose…

Me & My Muse – Day 523: DEC the Halls…

What is DEC?  In Toastmasters, it’s a District Executive Committee.  And today, I attended a DEC meeting at Mangia’s in Kalamazoo.  To make a long story short, it took up much of the day.  Business was handled and as the new District Secretary, I recorded the minutes.  After the minutes, there was a white elephant gift exchange.  When that ended, I went home after I was dropped off at my carpooling location in Owosso.

And now, I am tired.  I will wrap some gifts, watch some Christmas footage from past years for nostalgic reasons and call it a night.

Today’s high is going to be 28 degrees and the silver lining is attending the DEC meeting.

To those of you who like attending special events, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  Your day sounded fun.  For the imaginary division of Toastmasters, I’ve been to several DEC meetings.  Enjoy your evening!  Tee hee!

Me & My Muse – Day 522: Must Have Yummy Japan…

Last night, I failed at a mission.  Not a very important mission, but a culinary mission that I wanted to be successful.

When I went to the mall, it was an hour before closing.  At the food court, I went over to Yummy Japan, hoping that I could have some of their Kato Chicken with noodles.  I stand in line and give them my order.  Their response?  “We’re closed.”

I take a closer look as I watch the employees working really hard to get everything cleaned so that they could leave for the night.  This was a big disappointment.  You sir, have just lost your business for the day.  Better luck tomorrow, I guess…

And that day is today.  After I work, I will set out on my mission.  The mission that I failed at last night.  I will go to the Midland Mall food court.  I will order the Kato Chicken with noodles.  Then, I will smile victoriously as I eat every bite.  Every chunk of cooked lettuce and other vegetables.  Every fried crispy piece of Kato Chicken.  And yes, every noodle.  And after that last bite, I will say  “Mission Successful”.

Muse:  You’re making me hungry!

Good.  Because I’m hungry myself!  Hungry for some Yummy Japan.  That will come after today’s shift at work.  Good things are worth waiting for…

Muse:  Not so for me.  I can go and get it whenever I please.

Couldn’t you just make it magically appear?

Muse:  If I knew the right recipe, yes.  I don’t know how to make Kato Chicken with noodles…

Neither do I, but they do.   Time to get ready.

Muse:  I’ll let you.  Time to work some more on that gift.  Tee hee…

So with that, I will set out on my mission after work.  I will have dinner at Yummy Japan and my mission will be a success.

Today’s high is going to be 34 degrees and the silver lining will be having some delicious Kato Chicken at Yummy Japan tonight.

To those of you who love eating food court food at the mall, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  That does sound pretty good.  I think that I’ll go and get some right now!

Me & My Muse – Day 521: A Sweet Evening

And my, how sweet it was!  I attended a chocolate tasting, where I was able to try some different treats and watch a couple of demonstrations.  Overall, I enjoyed it.  All of the recipes used chocolate and despite this being the case, it was not overwhelming.  The chocolate accented the flavor instead of dominating it.

After that, I went cereal shopping and had dinner.  That’s my evening in a nutshell.

Today’s high is going to be 35 degrees and the silver lining was going to the chocolate tasting.

To those of you who like all things chocolate, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  Chocolate?  Those events are fun!  I always like to watch the demos and try all the delicious food!  It’s so good!  Tee hee…

Me & My Muse – Day 520: Preshopping Checklist

Now I know that you have all heard that Santa is making a list.  He’s not alone.  I have my own list.  It’s a Christmas shopping list, and I’m checking it twice.

Tomorrow, I plan on getting the bulk of my Christmas shopping done.  I have an idea what to get for everybody.  There is just one person that I am unsure of.  And with me leaving for a closing shift (3 to close) a little later, I need to get going.

Now am I doing the shopping today?  No.  It will be done tomorrow morning.  I come in to work tomorrow and clean the oven for an hour.  I will then begin my shopping, with County Connection taking me to work later on.  That’s today, and a little bit of tomorrow in a nutshell.

Muse:  Sounds good to me! I have about all of my shopping done!  There’s just one more person that I need to shop for.

Now who would that be?

Muse: You!  Tee hee!  I want to make sure that what I get for you is extra special…

Couldn’t you use that fairy magic to make something special?

Muse:  I could, if you so wished it!  Now about the wishes.  There is no pressure to use them everyday.  Use them as often as you like!  I don’t like the “one wish per day” rule.  Tee hee…

My, do we have the case of the giggles.  Okay.  I “wish” that you would make something special for me for Christmas.

Muse:  Your wish is my command, Master!  Tee hee!  Now this wish will take a while, since what I’m making for you is extra special…

Well, good luck on your shopping.

Muse:  Thanks.  Tee hee!  And about the giggles, I just can’t help it.  I just feel so happy.  It’s like a rush of joy that I can’t contain.  Fairies love to laugh and they laugh very often.  I am no exception.  Tee hee!  Time for some of that delicious coffee.  Mmm…I can hardly wait!

That’s about it for today.  Work a closing shift, go to bed, clean the oven tomorrow morning and go shopping after that. And just to let you know, I already wrapped my Muse’s gift.  She will absolutely love what I got her!

Today’s high is going to be 28 degrees and the silver lining is being able to plan for tomorrow’s Christmas shopping.

To those of you who love to go Christmas shopping.  I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  I just love this delicious coffee!  It tastes like magic!  Tee hee!

Me & My Muse – Day 519: Beyond Tired

I didn’t think that such a thing would be possible but it is.  It happens when you work an opening shift and get up early in the morning.  For this reason, I’m cutting this entry short.

Today’s high is going to be 36 degrees and the silver lining is having the rest of the day off.

To those of you who who are relaxing after a day of work, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  Tired?  I’ll let you rest.  In the mean time, I need to finish my Christmas shopping list.  That, and explore the rest of my fairy abilities.  Tee hee…

Me & My Muse – Day 518: Starting Late

With my closing shift ending so late, I ended up going to bed late.  As a result, I woke up and turned my alarm off.  The result?  I ended up waking up an hour and a half later than what I wanted to.

Getting to the good news that I mentioned in one of my earlier posts, here it is.  The District Secretary had to step down from their position.  As a result, the District needed someone to fill this position for the remainder of the year.  Since I matched the qualities that they were looking for, I was selected for this position.  With that, I am now the District Secretary for District 62 for the remainder of the 2014-2015 year.

Half of this day is already over, and I still have some things to do before my friend comes over around 4:30 to 5:30.  I have a gift to wrap and some rescheduling to do in order to accommodate my new District Secretary position in Toastmasters.  That is what needs to be done and I need to get going on it right away.

Muse:  And while you’re doing that, I will begin the process of rebirth.  When this happens, your Muse’s memories will be mine!  You will never see your Muse again!  Tee hee!

*sigh*  Time to settle this story arc first…

Remedy:  Not so fast.  You will not succeed in the rebirth process.  Notice anything different?

Muse:  *gasp*  The pendant!  It’s a fake!  Where’s the real one?

Remedy:  Where do you think it is?

Muse:  You have it, and I don’t have time for these matters.  Mother, please come out and help!

Fairy Mother:  I have arrived, and I see that the rebirth process has not begun yet.  Why is that, my dear?

Muse:  This pendant is a fake!  An imposter took the real one with all the memories…

Fairy Mother:  Well, we know who the imposter is.  Remedy.  Relinquish the pendant NOW!

Remedy:  You may have it after I’m dead.

Fairy Mother:  Being difficult, are you?  I would expect as much from someone like you.  Assembly of fairies, seize him!

*an enormous swarm of fairies appear and begin closing in on Remedy*

Remedy:  This is it.  I’ve done everything I could…

*the fairies grab Remedy and present him to the Fairy Mother*

Fairy Mother:  Now, hand me the pendant!

Remedy:  I don’t have it.

Fairy Mother:  WHAT? How can this be?

Real Remedy:  What my clone is trying to say is that he doesn’t have it but I do.  Now to execute the plan!  Fairies, BEGONE!

*Remedy blasts a powerful beam that vaporizes the swarm of fairies*

Fairy Mother:  My beautiful children!  You will pay for this!

Remedy:  You should know that they’re not dead.  Fairies don’t die.  They just return to the place where they were born.  Book of fairies, remember?!

Fairy Mother:  I know.   But they will all have to be born once again before I can have them deal with you.  Or, my beautiful soon to be child can bring them all back with her Intangible abilities after she’s been reborn as a fairy!  Hand over the pendant, NOW!

Muse:  Let me help you, mother.

Remedy:  Let me help you remember who you are, by destroying this prison of memories…

*Remedy throws pendant into the air and blasts it with a powerful beam of magic, freeing all the memories that were inside*

Muse:  Wha…What’s going on?

*A bright series of flashes begin flowing into the Muse*

The memories!  They’re returning!

Fairy Mother:  Nooooo!!!!

Muse:  Oh…It’s you!  I know who you are!  I saw you from inside the pendant!  You are going down!  Remedy?

Remedy:   I’m ready.

*both Remedy and Muse blast a powerful beam at the Fairy Mother*

Fairy Mother:  NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!  My existence is fading…You will p…

*Fairy Mother flashes into a beam, which is absorbed by the Muse*

What happened?

Muse:  Don’t you know?  Just like fairies, Fairy Mothers don’t die.  They remain alive just as long as someone’s memories keep them alive.  And since they’re my memories, she will be a totally different Fairy Mother.  You should really ready that Book of Fairies more often…

And what happened to the fairy that tried to take your memories and get herself reborn?

Muse:  She is under my control now.  I have all of her memories, which I can do with what I please.  Tee hee!

Remedy:  And the plan worked.  Didn’t think it would work, did you?

Could you please explain the plan to me?

Remedy:  Having studied that Book of Fairies numerous times, I knew that fairy magic was the only thing that could destroy a fairy.  But the problem was that I needed a way to have access to this fairy magic.  That’s where I found a vault that contained all of the entire fairy kingdom’s reserve supply of magic.  This was to be used on the Fairy Mother in an emergency.  But with the vault being heavily guarded, I needed a way to get all the guards away from the vault.  So I created a clone and I made him pretend to have the pendent.  I easily stole the real one while the fairy Muse was sleeping and made the exchange.  I let the clone get captured and made myself known at that point.  I knew that in doing that the Fairy Mother would summon her entire assembly of fairies on me, leaving me to go and help myself to the reserve supply of fairy magic.

But how did you get it, if you were right there talking to her?

Remedy:  I used another clone!  That clone drained all the magic from the reserve vault and transferred it to me while I was confronting her.  His timing was perfect.  I dispatched all the fairies and used that same magic to shatter the pendant.  I knew that the fairies and the Fairy Mother wouldn’t die, as the Book of Fairies is a magical book that carefully protects their existence.

Muse:  And they are all safe and sound in my realm.  In fact, most of the fairies that Remedy destroyed are are already reborn!  They are all happy and none of them seek revenge on us.

That sounds good.  Another good end to a story arc.  Now can I get ready, Tinkerbell?

Muse:  For that, I will turn you into a gnat! …Just kidding!  I’ll let you get ready, while I reacquaint myself with that fairy’s memories.  Don’t worry.  I’ll get rid of her bad ones.  Tee hee!

Sounds good to me.  Time to get ready.

Today’s high is going to be 39 degrees and the silver lining is my friend coming over tonight.

To those of you who have a lot of things to do, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  I love these fairy wings!  I also love being 3 inches tall! Tee hee…

Me & My Muse – Day 517: Closing Time

Time to cut this short, since I’m low on time.  I work a closing shift at Little Caesars from 3 to 10.  That is all.

Today’s high is going to be 36 degrees and the silver lining is going to church this morning.

To those of you who like Sundays, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  The story arc must continue!  It will surely continue tomorrow.  I’m sure of it…

Me & My Muse – Day 516: Gold Tires, GET!

The reason why there hasn’t been any entry today is because I spent the whole day trying to beat all the Staff Ghosts in Mario Kart 8 Time Trial Mode.  As a result, my sanity is gone.  All of it.

The high for today was 40 degrees and the silver lining was getting the gold tires on Mario Kart 8.

Good night everyone!

Muse:  Whoa!  That’s not a typical ending.  Now I know that he lost it!  Get plenty of rest, okay?

Me & My Muse – Day 515: Christmas Shopping – Part I

With Christmas only 20 days away, it begins.  The season of shopping.  And not having the knowledge of what everyone wants, this is only the beginning.

For starters, I have to buy a $30 gift that would be suitable for a man.  How do I know what that ideal gift would be?  This will be the harder one to shop for, but I will make sure that I get it done today.

All the rest will be easier, and they will be finished in due time.

And getting back to the Book of Fairies, I have taken the time to read it.  Considering the information that is in there, I am expecting that my fairy-Muse did not think that I was actually going to read all of that.  Who does she think she is?  I’m smarter than that.

For one thing, in the section under Unnatural Fairies it mentions rather clearly that anyone that becomes a fairy loses all the memories that they had from their previous form.  But these memories are not lost forever.  Instead, these memories are stored inside a pendant, which the fairy must wear at all times.  This helps the fairy to understand how the previous form behaves and they can use those memories to emulate that form perfectly.

Now the Natural Fairy section is totally different.  These fairies are born from a Fairy Mother and do not need to wear the memory pendants.  They are a natural fairy so the form that they have is original.  But that’s besides the point.  I have an important talk with my Muse, next time that I see her.

Muse:  What do you need to discuss?

I don’t know.  Maybe all those secrets that are written in the Book of Fairies?

Muse:  I heard the whole thing.  I didn’t think that you would read it all, but I guess I underestimated you.

You really did, considering that you don’t know me.  I, however, know you very well.  You have something very important, and I want it.  Give up the pendant.

Muse:  What?  So that you can have all of your Muse’s memories back?  Never!  I will turn you into a gnat instead.  How about that?

???: That does not sound like a good idea.

Remedy!

Remedy:  Turn him into a gnat and I’ll turn him right back.  What do you say to that?

Muse:  Then I’ll turn YOU into a gnat!

Remedy:  You can’t!  I’m an Intangible.  And you’re a Tangible Fairy in an Intangible body.  This means that your magic only affects Tangibles.

Muse:  *sigh*  My adoptive mother told me about you, and how much trouble you would be.  For now, I shall retreat, and seek her council.

Couldn’t you just summon her?

Muse: The Fairy Mother is very particular about when she wants to be summoned.  She is very busy and she doesn’t want to be bothered with our affairs.  Therefore, I will fly to her and discuss the matter myself.

And the pendant?

Muse:  I will never let you have it.  And I’m sure that you read enough in that Book of Fairies to know that unnatural fairies can become natural ones through a rebirth process.  We will discuss that process, and I will see to it that it happens very soon.  Tee hee!

No!  That can’t happen!

Muse:  Oh!  But it will!  I am going to my soon to be real, mother. This entry is indeed longer.  Thank you for granting my wish!

*fairy Muse zooms into the sky, leaving behind a flurry of sparkles*

Remedy:  Don’t worry about her.  I have a plan to set your Muse free.  It’s a stretch, but I know that it will work.

I hope that it does.

Remedy:  It will.  Don’t worry.  I will now let you get ready.

Time to get going.  After today’s shift, I will be shopping.

Today’s high is going to be 37 degrees and the silver lining will be shopping for Christmas gifts later on.

To those of you who like Christmas shopping, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  Oh, how I long to be reborn as a real fairy!  Once that happens, I will be imbued with all of Muse’s memories and she will be gone forever!  I hope that mother says yes!  I know that she will! Tee hee hee hee hee!!!!

Me & My Muse – Day 514: And the Beat Goes On…

First, a morning shift.  Then, a brief trip home.  After that, a trip in to Saginaw for a Toastmasters meeting.  A meeting where I wish that I’m not the only one there.  With all that going, this is all you get.

Muse:  But the wish!  It must be longer!

Oh.  The wish will come true, but “in the distant future”.  Sound Familiar?

Muse:  No fair!

Life isn’t fair.  I’m very busy and I can’t make it any longer.  I do have some good news that I will save for another day.

Today’s high is going to be 29 degrees and the silver lining is being able to breathe.

To those of you who struggle to find a small window of free time, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  That wish better come true soon.  He tricked me!

Me & My Muse – Day 513: A Quick Start

This one’s going to be short too, since I need to get ready for a shift that I work a little later.

Today’s high is going to be 33 degrees and the silver lining is having some time to enjoy this day.

To those of you who are busy, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  Not using any of your wishes?  Fine!  I’ll use one of yours!  I wish that your entry tomorrow will be a lot longer!  There!  Let’s see you make a short one now!

Me & My Muse – Day 512: Trying Hard-er

For today’s entry, I’m going to cut it short, since I need to practice for tonight’s speech at Toastmasters.  After presenting tonight’s speech, I will have earned my second Competent Communicator award.

Without further ado, let the practicing begin.

Today’s high is going to be 32 degrees and the silver lining will be earning another Competent Communicator.

To those of you who love earning awards,  I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  *sigh*  Another wish for today that’s going to pile up with the others.  I wish that he would start using them already!

Me & My Muse – Day 511: Click Till You Drop

Have you started your Christmas shopping yet? If not, now is the time.

Now quick! Go to your preferred websites and order everything on your list before you get that dreaded 404 error.

For anyone who took part in Black Friday, it continues. What, you ask? Well, only THE biggest holiday for online retailers everywhere: Cyber Monday.

For those who hate the Black Friday crowds, today is your day.  All you need to do is relax. You don’t have to go anywhere and all the best sales are just a click away. And the only downside is a server failure.

While there are so many deals to take advantage of today, I am not doing anything of the sort. I don’t need another large credit card bill to pay off so I am going to pass on this day for this year.

For anyone else who wants the deals, now is the time.   Stop reading this, type your favorite online store in the address bar and start shopping!

Muse:  I’m almost done with my shopping.

What would you need to shop for?

Muse:  Fairies shop too!  And your wishes are starting to pile up…

I’ll get to that later.

Muse:  Okay.  But I hope that you make one soon.  Us fairies don’t feel that comfortable when we’re not granting wishes…

Very well.  I wish that I don’t have to work today.

Muse:  Granted.  Your wish will come true tomorrow.

Why not today?

Muse:  It’s an extra special wish.  It takes time for the magic to work.

Nonsense.  I don’t believe you.

Muse:  Fine!  I just wanted to joke around!  Can’t a fairy like me have some fun every now and then?  Anyway, your wish will come true tomorrow.

Good.  I now need to get ready.

Today’s high is going to be 26 degrees and the silver lining is having some time to get some things done before work.

To those of you who love shopping online, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  I need to keep him as occupied as possible so that he forgets about his Muse.  This is a wonderful body, and it’s mine to keep.  Tee hee!

Me & My Muse – Day 510: The Countdown Begins

Have you looked at the calendar lately?  If you have, you would notice that we only have 25 days left until Christmas.  Now that may seem like a lot of time, but that day will be there a lot sooner than you think….

To reflect, my Thanksgiving was pretty good.  There was a lot of food there and plenty to eat.  In fact, there are still some leftovers left.  A little bit of stuffing and some cranberry orange relish.

Muse: I can finally get my Christmas stuff out!  My company left yesterday afternoon.

I don’t know when my company will be leaving my grandparent’s.  It might be today or tomorrow….

Muse:  I have a lot of decorations that I need to set up.  I also need to get the tree….

Speaking of which, I already got one with my family.

Muse:  That’s nice!  I just got mine too.  After decorating, I think I’ll take a break to read more of my book….

Sounds like a plan.  I’ll be doing some more reading and look over the manuscript that my editor sent back to me…

Muse:  Time for some coffee!  After that, I’m going to be decorating.  Bye….

Bye.  For me, I just work at Little Caesars today.  After that, I have the evening to relax….

Today’s high is going to be 53 degrees and the silver lining will be being able to relax later.

To those of you who are counting down with me,  I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  Should I tell him that his wish from Thanksgiving wore off?  Nah.  He’ll find out soon enough…

Me & My Muse – Day 509: O Christmas Tree

Out of the forests, tree farms, home improvement stores or closets and into your house.  We have an evergreen conifer to decorate.

Or do you?  If not, you will soon.  And if you’re not the kind that keeps a Christmas tree in your house, chances are you know someone who does.  Or they know someone.

With just 26 days left until Christmas, the race has begun.  Deck those halls.  Deck the outside of your house.  Deck the lawn.  Deck the kitchen.  And whatever you do, don’t forget to deck the tree.

And while there’s plenty of shopping to do (we’ll get to that another day), we’ll focus on the tree for today.  For me, getting the tree has been a tradition that goes all the way back to my childhood.  And even before that, the tradition of decorating trees has been around for hundreds of years.  Ever since the pagan Europeans practiced tree worship long ago.  But having survived the conversion to Christianity, the trees were then used to scare away the devil.

Getting back to my tradition, I have always enjoyed getting a tree as a kid.  For a number of years, I can remember going to Beards Lakeview Farm with my brother, younger sister and parents.  We would get out and begin searching for the perfect tree.

The search would pretty much go like this.  One of us would find what we think to be the perfect tree, until a flaw is pointed out in it.  A spot may be bare, or it might be too small or too tall.  This would continue on and on for several trees.

And finally, by some miraculous event, we come across the perfect tree. At that point, the tree is ready to be cut down, right?  Wrong.  It’s picture time.  Stand in front of the tree in the freezing cold and get your picture taken, so that grandma and grandpa could see the tree that you got this year.  At the age that I was at back then, it didn’t matter.  There was snow everywhere and I was standing in front of the tree that would go in our living room.  I loved it.

For the first few years, mom and dad dragged the tree to the needle shaker and wrapper.  But when me and my brother were old enough, dad made us drag the tree all the way back to get de-needled and wrapped up in twine ropes for the truck.  As the years went by, it got easier and easier to do.

Looking at this year, I have yet to get a tree.  In fact, we’re getting one today.  Same place, in fact.  I’ll let you know how it turns out.

And if you’ve been following the 12 Pains of Christmas, I’ll be getting the first thing done today.

As for the other eleven, they will all come in due time.  Well actually nine, since I don’t drink or have any children to worry about.

Muse:  Got your tree?

Not yet.  I will be today.  And I actually want to end this…

Muse:  Well, before you do, I have some good news.  I found the perfect Christmas tree!

http://georgeweigel.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/fraser-fir.jpg

Nice.  Your tree looks just like ours do in the real world.

Muse:  I know.  Christmas has gotten really popular among me and the Intangibles.

So did you cut it down?

Muse:  Of course I did!  And it’s all decorated too.

Well, that was fast!  I still need to get a tree and decorate it!

Muse:  Well, being Intangible does have its advantages.  Plus, I want to get some reading done.  Now you can end it.  Farewell!

*sigh*  Intangibles always get the best trees.  Well, I guess that makes sense since they’re all imaginary.

The high today is going to be 39 degrees and the silver lining is getting a Christmas tree.

To all of you who love the tradition of keeping a Christmas tree in your house,  I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  The star on this tree is so beautiful.  To be perfectly honest, I could stare at this for hours….

Me & My Muse – Day 508: Shop Till You Drop

If you are currently reading this, then you’re already late for the sales.  The sales that many hope to get on Black Friday.

And fortunately, I can say that I’m not one of them.  I am not a Black Friday shopper.  Never have, and never will be.

Muse:  Neither am I.  I don’t know how some people can even bother to stand in those long lines.  It’s crazy if you ask me.

Yes it is.  What are you still doing up?

Muse:  There were so many dishes from Thanksgiving that it took me forever to get them done.  How did it go?

It went fine.  Not all of the dishes that I named were there.  There wasn’t any cottage cheese but there was candied yams.  Instead, there was some squash with marshmallows and some fruit salad.  We even brought over a turkey made of fruit.  Dessert followed a couple hours later.

Muse:  I had about the same here.  With so many to feed, it took a while to go through the table.  Anyway,  I need to finish cleaning.  I’ll see you in the morning, when the company leaves!

What more can I say about Black Friday?  Only this.  It’s a retail holiday that I never want to associate with.  The lines are too long, despite the deals that are promised.  I’m looking forward to Cyber Monday, a day that I prefer much more than a holiday dedicated to the die-hard shopper.

But as much as I hate it, I’ll be in the tail end of the Black Friday rush, since I want to do some shopping after work.

Today’s high is going to be 28 degrees and the silver lining will be getting paid when I work later at Little Caesars

For those of you who love cashing in on the deals on Black Friday, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  There.  The dishes are done.  I can finally go off to bed!

Me & My Muse – Day 507: Happy Thanksgiving!

It is finally here.  The day of feasts and floats.  The day of family, friends and to some, football.  One of the least commercialized holidays of them all.  Well, almost.  With many businesses trying to extend Black Friday by another day, the tradition of Thanksgiving is at stake.

But for everyone else (and that goes for most of us) it is the day that we go to our aunt’s and uncle’s house, or grandparent’s. On the flipside, it can be a house taken over by relatives.  But wherever you spend it, the takeover is that of love, with the warmth of family filling every corner of the house.

For me, I will be going to my grandparent’s house.  The expected party will include three families.  My family, the family of my aunt and uncle, and my grandparents.  A hungry party of 12.

And the spread would be something that you would expect your typical Thanksgiving Feast to be.  Turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole, cranberry-orange relish, candied yams, garlic-stuffed olives, rolls, cottage cheese and mashed potatoes.

Thanksgiving is also the time for us to be thankful for the things that we have.  Despite how much or how little we have, we all possess the greatest gift of all.  The gift of life.  And that is something to be thankful for.

Muse:  Indeed it is!

So how is your Thanksgiving so far?

Muse:  It’s going good so far.  I can’t talk for long.  I just got up.  I’m getting the turkey out and thawing it.

You’re having a Thanksgiving feast for Intangibles?  Won’t this come off to them as weird?

Muse:  They’re perfectly fine with my decision to adopt a few of your Tangible rules.  And this isn’t the first Thanksgiving dinner that I made for them….

Well, it seems like you’re busy with all of your guests.  I’ll let you take care of them.  I’ll let you know how it goes with my company later, okay?

Muse:  Yes.  Now I need to get the coffee going, and the turkey thawed.  And the TV turned on so I can catch the parade….

Oh!  One more thing.  What are you thankful for?

Muse:  I’m thankful that I can remember what’s going on.  For some reason, I couldn’t for a while…I’m also thankful for all the food that I get to eat today.  We’ll talk later, alright?  Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to you, too!

Muse:  Oh!  I hear them!  I’m coming!  Who was I talking to?  Just Kyle, the one that I told you about….

Like her, I’m also thankful for that delicious food.  And I almost forgot to mention that the stuffing is made with grandma’s special recipe.  A recipe that my mom has perfected over the years.  For instance, the original recipe used too much salt, so she had to adjust it.

And I also forgot about the desserts.  There will be a few there, believe me.

Today’s high is going to be 30 degrees and the silver lining will be eating the delicious Thanksgiving feast.

To all of you who are going to be feasting with your family and friends, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  Turkey?  Check.  Coffee maker turned on?  Check.  TV turned on?  Check.  Time to get Thanksgiving started, everyone!

Me & My Muse – Day 506: Thanksgiving Eve

With Thanksgiving being tomorrow, I need to get ready.  My store might be a little busier.  That, and I want to play a little more of my game.
With me still needing to get ready for the day, I will end this entry.

Muse: So have you thought of your wishes yet?

Yes.  I wish that you were the same exact Muse that I knew.  I want to celebrate Thanksgiving with a Muse, not a fairy Muse that doesn’t act like my Muse at all…

Muse:  I understand.  Your wish is granted!

*Muse flashes and changes form*

Muse:  What happened?

You were a fairy Muse, and you just granted my wish.

Muse:  I did?  I can’t remember that!

Well, it’s the day before Thanksgiving.

Muse:  Thanksgiving?  Now I remember!  I already have that taken care of.  Besides, it only takes a second to prepare everything with Intangible magic.  Remedy, Nurture and several other Intangible friends  will be coming over.

It should be a fun gathering.

Muse:  I know.  I need to go on the finishing touches.

Okay.  I’ll let you do that.
Today’s high is going to be 42 degrees and the silver lining will be finishing my final shift before Thanksgiving.

To those of you who are busy preparing for Thanksgiving, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  I only have one more thing to make:  desserts!  Better get on that!

Me & My Muse – Day 505: 30 Days Until Christmas…

That’s right.  Only one more month until Christmas arrives.  And with an hour left before I leave for work, there are a couple more boxes that need to be checked.

Today’s high is going to be 34 degrees and the silver lining is getting all the whites for my laundry done.

To those of you who are ready for the holidays and love having fresh whites, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  Three wishes again.  I wish that he would make more wishes!  Unfortunately, that one doesn’t count…
