Me & My Muse – Day 246: Short and Sweet 67 – An Interview and a Job Lead

Today, I have a 1:00 interview with Spherion.  From what I found out, it was a general placement interview, so it’s not really for any specific job.  For that, wish me luck!

After that, I will be applying for a full-time clerical job that I heard about at Senior Services.

As much as I would like to elaborate on any of this, I need to prepare for the interview.

Today’s high is going to be 42 degrees and the silver lining will be having the interview today.

To those of you who making progress in their job search or career, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  Good luck on the interview!

Me & My Muse – Day 245: It’s-a me, MAR10!

That’s right.  For those of you who are not aware, today is a day dedicated to the mustachioed hero we all know and love:  Mario.

So why is today dedicated to Mario?  To answer that question, all you have to do is look at today’s date.  Today is March 10th.  In knowing that, MAR10 = Mario, hence the reason we have Mario Day.

Okey Dokey! As for this special day, what you do on it is up to you.  You can dress like Mario, talk like Mario, play Mario-related video games, watch the Super Mario Bros. movie (if you dare), play Mario Monopoly, or anything else Mario-related.  Whatever it is, just remember to observe the most famous character in video game history.

Muse:  Nice recycled post!

So what?  I’m being green.  Recycling is good for the environment!

Today’s high is going to be 47 degrees and the silver lining will be tonight, when I will have a one-day vacation.

To those of you who love all things Mario-related, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  To celebrate, I am having a Mario marathon!  Super Mario Bros., here I come!

Me & My Muse – Day 244: Springing Ahead

With it getting so late last night, I wasn’t able to make an additional entry.  My apologies.

If you can remember Day 117 or Day 118, I was falling back.  Today, it has come full circle.  If you haven’t done so already,  you now need to set your clocks forward one hour.  This is something that I always don’t like doing, since I lose an hour of sleep.

Muse:  That may be true, but you gain an hour of daylight!  I love this part….

For  the sleep, however, it will take two weeks to a month before I get used to the time change.

Muse:  You’ll get used to it.  Don’t worry.

Besides springing ahead, I have to work another four hours at the pizza pit.  I simply want to move to a management position there as quick as possible so I can get a full-time job.  *sigh*  I mean, I should be getting an opportunity very soon, right?

Muse:  Don’t be discouraged.  You will.

It’s time that I get ready.  Today’s high is going to be 34 degrees and the silver lining will be later, when I can enjoy what’s left of this day.

To those of you who remembered to spring ahead, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  All my clocks are changed.  I look forward to having a longer day!

Me & My Muse – Day 243: Short and Sweet 66 – The Grind Continues

The work grind continues today and it ends on Monday.

When the dust settles tonight,  I might have something else to talk about, so stay tuned.

Today’s high is going to be 30 degrees and the silver lining will be later, when I’m able to enjoy what’s left of my day.

To those of you who have to work all weekend.  I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  At least you’re making money.  Although I’m sure that you want to make more than that.  Just be patient.  Your time will come soon enough….

Me & My Muse – Day 242: Short and Sweet 65 – Assessment Time: Part II!

This is day three on the assessments.  I would like to finish them today.  Also, four hours of work at the pizza pit, and then pay day.  Yay!

Today’s high is going to be 38 degrees and the silver lining is getting paid.

To those of you who love paychecks, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  Who doesn’t love paychecks?  Once again, good luck on the assessments!

Me & My Muse – Day 241: Short and Sweet 64 – Assessment Time!

Being very short on time today, I’ll summarize.

I have two hours to take ten Spherion Prove It assessments.  When that time expires, I will be going to Bay City to carpool to tonight’s Toastmasters meeting.

Having that said, I don’t want to waste anymore time writing this.

Today’s high is going to be 25 degrees and the silver lining is getting these assessments done.

To those of you who are pressed for time, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  Good luck on the assessments and tonight’s meeting!

Me & My Muse – Day 240: Taking the Initiative

After finding out about my interview a couple of days ago, I found out the reason why I didn’t get the interview.  I was told by the person at the temp that I lacked leadership experience.  Well, if Toastmasters doesn’t count as leadership experience, I’ll use those skills in a real setting, like they want.   I am going for management at Little Caesars – something that I should’ve done years ago.

Having worked at the pizza pit long enough, I should know everything about working there.  And that includes working the register, answering the phone, handling ovens, doing cash drops and various other responsibilities.  I will try harder to get the experience that I need.

Now it’s granted that others will still have more leadership experience than me.  But I need to focus on my strengths, not my weaknesses.

Muse: I was wondering that myself.

What?

Muse:  Why you weren’t a manager at Little Caesars yet.

There’s a simple answer to that.  I never saw any reason to, but now I do.  Becoming manager is my key to a better job.  And I will do a darn good job at it too!

Muse:  Well, let me know how that turns out.

I will.  For starters, I will need to learn register, and I will see to it that it’s done on a slow day. Not during a dinner rush.  Ever.

Muse:  Well, I’ll let you get ready.  I need to shower.  Good luck!

Thank you.  Taking the initiative is what I need to do to go to the next level.  And I will see to it that it happens.

Today’s high is going to be 19 degrees and the silver lining is beginning my journey towards management.

To those of you who are in a earnest pursuit to better yourself after being told of an important quality that you lack, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  I think that he would make a great manager.  But everyone else needs to see that first.  Especially the boss….

Me & My Muse – Day 239: Short and Sweet 63 – Mardi Gras and Meeting Tonight….

Once again, this entry’s going to be short.

Today is Mardi Gras and I have a Toastmasters meeting tonight.

As for my job, I need to become a manager at Little Caesars.  This needs to be done so that I can get the “management experience” that a potential employer said I lacked.

Today’s high is going to be 21 degrees and the silver lining is enjoying the extra food today.

To those of you who love to pile away the calories on Fat Tuesday, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  I’m not sparing any calories today!  Time for another two paczki….

Me & My Muse – Day 238: Short and Sweet 62 – To-do List….

And it begins with a follow up with Michigan Works.  I have not heard back from the person that I interviewed.

In addition to that, I need to plan for two Toastmasters meetings this week.  One of them is tomorrow and one of them is Thursday.  The one for tomorrow is important, since I need to get a speech contest planned.  I’m kind of hoping that I have everything to do it.

Besides that, I have some bills to pay and the “rent” is due.  That’s today in a nutshell.

Today’s high is going to be 11 degrees and the silver lining is being able to work on my to-do list.

To those of you who have incomplete to-do lists to do, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  That reminds me!  I better get started on my to-do list….

Me & My Muse – Day 237: Short and Sweet 61 – Another Day Off….

I don’t have much to add for today.  To remark on last night’s pizza, it was pretty good.  I thought that my Buffalo Chicken was perfect.  It was as close to Papa John’s as I could make it (minus the peperoncini and garlic dip, of course).

In the future, I would like to do two things.  Read more and write more.  As of recently, both have been stagnant during my job search. I will also follow up on my interview tomorrow….

Today’s high is going to be 14 degrees and the silver lining is being able to enjoy another day off.

To those of you who love Sundays, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  Read more and write more?  I’m glad you’re noticing that.  Try to do that soon, okay?

Me & My Muse – Day 236: Short and Sweet 60 – So tired of Winter….

Will I be able to see grass in 20 days?  I can only hope.

Today is the usual weekend drill.  Work at pizza pit for four hours and enjoy the rest of the weekend.  I will be making a buffalo chicken pizza, which I am convinced that I have perfected this time.

Today’s high is going to be 24 degrees and the silver lining is enjoying this evening with a delicious pizza.

To those of you who are anxiously looking forward to Spring, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  I’m tired of winter myself.  Why did I make it snow in the Intangible Realm the first place?
