Me & My Muse – Day 240: Taking the Initiative

After finding out about my interview a couple of days ago, I found out the reason why I didn’t get the interview.  I was told by the person at the temp that I lacked leadership experience.  Well, if Toastmasters doesn’t count as leadership experience, I’ll use those skills in a real setting, like they want.   I am going for management at Little Caesars – something that I should’ve done years ago.

Having worked at the pizza pit long enough, I should know everything about working there.  And that includes working the register, answering the phone, handling ovens, doing cash drops and various other responsibilities.  I will try harder to get the experience that I need.

Now it’s granted that others will still have more leadership experience than me.  But I need to focus on my strengths, not my weaknesses.

Muse: I was wondering that myself.

What?

Muse:  Why you weren’t a manager at Little Caesars yet.

There’s a simple answer to that.  I never saw any reason to, but now I do.  Becoming manager is my key to a better job.  And I will do a darn good job at it too!

Muse:  Well, let me know how that turns out.

I will.  For starters, I will need to learn register, and I will see to it that it’s done on a slow day. Not during a dinner rush.  Ever.

Muse:  Well, I’ll let you get ready.  I need to shower.  Good luck!

Thank you.  Taking the initiative is what I need to do to go to the next level.  And I will see to it that it happens.

Today’s high is going to be 19 degrees and the silver lining is beginning my journey towards management.

To those of you who are in a earnest pursuit to better yourself after being told of an important quality that you lack, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  I think that he would make a great manager.  But everyone else needs to see that first.  Especially the boss….
