Have you ever heard of the legend of Laputa? Chances are you have, as stories of this floating island of myth has been circulated for many decades. Some say that on a clear day, you can see the floating island of Laputa high in the sky, with an enormous castle perched right in the center. High above the city that is now said to be ruins. Parts of this legend tell of a special blue levitation stone that was used to find and access the Laputa. It is needed to traverse the “Dragon’s Nest” an endless and perilous storm that circles Laputa.
But more recently, an orphan girl named Sheeta was found to have the blue levitation stone. It was a necklace that she wore, and she has just escaped from her captors.
Fortunately, her escape has led to her finding another orphan named Pazu. Together, they set out on an unforgettable story to find the fabled Laputa and discover the splendor that they find in the Castle in the Sky.
This is the premise for Hayao Miyazaki’s very first Studio Ghibli movie: Castle in the Sky (Tenkū no Shiro Rapyuta, or in English: Laputa: Castle in the Sky).
Muse: Sounds like another fun adventure!
Twin Muse: Only that you forgot to mention that Sheeta came from royalty. Address her by her REAL name. She is Lusheeta Toel Ur Laputa! Her heritage is with Laputa so she needs to find it!
And find it she will, with Pazu’s help.
Like all other movies, I need to get ready for the day. Later on, I will watch the movie.
Muse: Fair enough. In the meantime, we’re going to find the two orphans and look for Laputa!
Twin Muse: We need a levitation stone if we’re going to find them!
Muse: Or, we could just fly! We’re Intangible, remember?
Twin Muse: Right! Let’s fly, twinnie!
*both Muse and Twin Muse fly up into the sky*
Time to get ready and enjoy yet another Miyazaki classic.
Today’s high is going to be 30 degrees and the silver lining is seeing Castle in the Sky later today.
To those of you who love finding mysterious floating islands with castles on them, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.
Muse: Hey! Sheeta! Pazu! Wait for us! We will find Laputa together!
Twin Muse: Just be careful when we get to the Dragon’s Nest! It’s very windy and dangerous!
