Me & My Muse – Day 3833: Business Meeting, Therapy, and Toastmasters

First of all, the business meeting.

At noon, I had a business meeting with Tuesday Talkers.  Some of it regarded the upcoming speech contest while the rest went over the Club Success Plan.

Secondly, the therapy.  I had my intake meeting at Hyacinth.  I won’t give you all of the details, as I would like to keep my information between myself and my new therapist confidential.  All that you need to know is that it was some getting to know you kind of information.  Just the kind of information that I would discuss if I were to get to know you better.  We had a good discussion, so I think that we are off to a good start.

Finally, the Toastmasters part of this entry.  I attended a packed meeting at Saginaw Harvey Spaulding.  There were 14 people who attended physically (counting myself) and 5 who attended virtually, bringing the total number of attendees to 19.  This is rather impressive, considering that the attendance for Midland Toastmasters and Tuesday Talkers this week was hovering between six and seven…

Twin Muse:  Really?  Most of the intangible clubs that I attend have a physical attendance of between 30 and 40.  In fact,  the Imaginary Brilliant Babblers just had 10 guests at tonight’s meeting!  Ten!  Of those ten guests, seven wanted to join!  And this wasn’t even an open house!

Well that’s nice that intangible Toastmasters is doing so well.  On the other hand, real life Toastmasters can vary depending on where you go.

Twin Muse:  Sorry.  IBB meets three times a week, considering that there are more than 80 people in the club.  We are considering splitting them all into three clubs, but we need a little bit more members before we do that.

Anyway, getting back to the meeting, I heard an icebreaker and I gave my own.  I then heard a Level 2 speech on Mentoring and a level 1 project from 1-4: Evaluation and feedback.  The first evaluator gave their evaluation and the fourth evaluator evaluated that evaluation.

Twin Muse:  Oh…I love those 1-4’s.  We get them almost every meeting.  It’s always the last project where you need to evaluate a speech.

But it’s technically 1-4C, right?  In 1-4, you give a speech, give a second speech which is either an improvement on the speech or a different one, and then give the evaluation.

Twin Muse:  Yup!  We get lots of Level 1’s, and regular updates from our VP of Education.  I’m the President of IBB.  Also some 2’s, 3’s, 4’s, and even 5’s sprinkled in, with a few path completions and DTM speech’s every now and then.

And the DCP?

Twin Muse:  It’s been uploaded.  IBB is on track to get all 10 goals once again.  All 7 of our officers have been trained at both trainings.  Even the immediate past president attends to support me!  I’m currently running the imaginary District as well, and the PQD and CGD are doing a wonderful job.  For the conference that’s being planned, there will be between 300-400 in attendance.

That’s a huge conference!

Twin Muse:  I plan to serve as Region Advisor next, and then International Director.

It looks like you got your work cut out for you!  Getting back to the meeting, SHS was pretty good tonight.  There were seven wonderful table topics and four great evaluations.  All in all a wonderful meeting.

With it being an early morning tomorrow, I’m going to call it a night.  Look for another entry tomorrow!

Today’s high is going to be 28 degrees and the silver lining is attending tonight’s Toastmasters meeting.

To those of you who like improving your resume by attending a Toastmasters meeting, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Twin Muse:  Phew!  It looks like we need a club coach!  Intangible Talkers has only 19 members!  19?  That’s a struggling club right there!

(Really?  Intangible clubs don’t have to worry about real life problems!)
