July is supposed to be the hottest month of the whole year.  A month where most of the days are in the 80’s.  This year, however, that did not happen.  After having the longest winter ever, we were begrudgingly greeted by a lackluster summer.  One July day in the 60’s, with today just being 70 degrees.  I would let this pass for June, but not for July.  July, you disappoint me.

The evidence is clear.  There has only been 11 days where the temperature has been 80 degrees or higher.  If you include the one day that it was 90 degrees, that can be changed to 12 days.  For all the other days, the temperatures have been hovering around 70 degrees with periodic rain.  And with yesterday’s monsoon, I think that we have all the rain that we need for the rest of the year.

Mediocre weather aside, this month has been pretty good.  Next month, not so good since I have jury duty for the whole month of August.  Why do you have to do this to me, Midland County Court?  My 30th birthday is on the 12th, and I DON’T want to spend that day in a courtroom.  If I can get dismissed, that would be a really good thing, but it doesn’t seem very likely.

With a six hour shift in the horizon, I am going to cut this short for today.  In just three hours, I will be taking public transportation to work.  Eventually, I hope to have my own car once I have saved up enough money.  Sharing one with my brother is nice, but I hope to eventually have my own vehicle, and my own place to live.  All in good time, like the saying goes.

As for the long shifts, I am glad that I am receiving them.  Long shifts come with management, and I have to start getting used to them.  For instance, I picked up two more hours yesterday since someone called in sick.  I have no problem with that, since it adds two more hours of pay to my paycheck.  Anyway, things are going good so far with my training.

Today’s high is going to be a chilly 70 degrees and the silver lining is being able to enjoy the quiet moments in life.
