Me & My Muse – Day 126: Farewell to Foliage – Part I

The time has come.  The day is long past overdue for the decrepit hordes of leafy carcasses to be put out of their misery.  And with  winter being impatient this year, my time is running out.

This morning, I proceeded with the usual drill of leaf disposal.  Gather the leafy cadavers into groups and rake them into my aged green dragnet.  From there, I would haul each throng of bygone tree ornaments into the woods, leaving them to rot and decompose.  Wash, rinse, repeat.

However, due to time constraints, I will not be able to finish the errand of freeing the foliage.  With the 4 to 8 shift that I have at Little Caesars (AKA the “pizza pit”), this task will have to be finished tomorrow.

For those of you who are curious about my progress so far, I managed to clear one whole side of the yard.  With 25% finished, I still have another 75% to go…..

Muse:  You’re running out of time.  By the end of this week, the ground may be covered in snow.

I know.  That’s why I need to act fast.  Fortunately, I have tomorrow off so I’ll be able to finish the leaves….

Muse:  Well, good luck with fading the foliage.  I have some comestibles to consume.

You haven’t eaten yet?

Muse:  How can I?  I was so absorbed in the book I was reading that I lost track of time!  Vittles, prepare to be vanquished!

Well, today’s task was quite annoying with the rain.  Hopefully, I won’t have to deal with that tomorrow.  It will be colder, but that doesn’t bother me.

Today’s high is going to be 40 degrees and the silver lining was getting some of the leaves done.

To those of you who are in a footrace to finish your fall chores, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  Delicious, healthy ideas.  Mmm mmm!  Best lunch ever!
