Me & My Muse – Day 35: Happy Birthday!

Once again, the day is here again.  I’m another year older.  Another year wiser.  Getting on the subject of birthdays, I really love them.  Most of us love celebrating the day of our birth.  This is usually done with presents, a special dinner and the cake and ice cream, with is the staple for most birthday parties.

Birthdays are also the time that you get numerous people coming out of the woodwork.  If you have a facebook, you will find a number of people that you normally never talk to wishing you happy birthday.  I actually don’t have a problem with this, since everyone who does this are people that I do know.  Some, however, are people that I haven’t talked to in years.  Oh facebook and your birthday stalkers.  You never cease to amaze me….

Muse:  Happy birthday, Kyle!

Cake 2

For me?  Thank you!

Muse:  I also took my medication, just for you.

So no annoying immature Muse today?  That’s going to be nice.

Muse:  I know how much your birthday mattered to you, so I wanted you to enjoy it.

Whoa.  How many of those did you take?  You sound very tranquil and relaxed.

Muse:  A normal dose.  Why would I take any more than I need to?  I am using your rules today, so an overdose would be fatal.

I don’t know how to say this, but I miss your energy.

Muse:  So you would rather have me be loud and obnoxious and a target of insult?  A verbal punching bag to be ridiculed for every one of my childish quirks?  Ironic as it may sound, you would not like me behaving like that.

I know, but it’s kind of hard to explain.  I like the fact that you’re not annoying, but I kind of miss you being hyper.

Muse: So, what do you want to do, birthday boy?

Whatever I want.  After all, it is my birthday, right?

Muse:  Right.  It took me quite a while to make that cake, so please eat all of it.

You’re not annoying today, so are you a woman?

Muse:  Think about the question that you just asked me.  What do you think?  Just look at every part of me.  Then, tell me your answer.

You are.

Muse:  I am, for you.  For your special day. And for no other reason.  You don’t like me in my other form, so for today, I will honor your wish.

So no “tee hee”s?

Muse:  That is juvenile and sophomoric.  Why would I extend my overarching desire to do something like that if it would only make you unhappy?

I guess I’m just not that used to your sedate and relaxed self.  You’re really taking this role seriously.

Muse:  Why wouldn’t I?  I too appreciate this day.  Without you entering this world, I wouldn’t exist.  So every year, I make it my goal to please you on the anniversary of your birth.

You….look beautiful.  Even more so than other days.

Muse:  It’s for you.  I appreciate your level of creativity.  It keeps me healthy.  The new ideas that are born.  The ideas that eventually ripen into the most delicious of food.  There is never a shortage.  You always provide for me, and I’m thankful for it.

Well, if I leave you starved, it doesn’t help me at all.  I don’t mind going the extra mile to keep you healthy.

Muse:  Your food has given me a unique vitality.  One that almost blurs the lines of reality and imagination.  I long to be a person like you, but alas….There is a wall of separation between us.

But that wall is there for our own good.  Imagine what the world would be like if that wall wasn’t there….

Muse:  Oh, but I wish that it could open just for me!  You would be mine, and I would be yours, forever.

Unfortunately, it is not for me to decide what is real and what is imaginary.  I did not design these boundaries.  All I know is that they are there for our own good.

Muse: But I will relent, for your sake.  I understand that these boundaries cannot be broken.  Although I wish they could, I will respect the rules.  I will ask again.  What do you want to do on your birthday?

I just want to have a nice dinner with my family.  A nice dinner with some cake and ice cream.  Before that, I’ll be playing a little bit of my new game and will watch some footage from some of my past birthdays.

Muse:  As you wish.  It’s your day, so I won’t sway any of your decisions.

Thank you.  I know that I can’t get used to this form, since you’ll be different tomorrow.

Muse:  It’s my gift to you.  Enjoy it to the fullest, while you still can.  Before I go, I have….one request.

You’re blushing.  What is that request?

Muse:  Never mind.  It’s trivial and stupid.  I don’t want to bother the birthday boy with such a ridiculous request.

What is it?  Whatever it is, I’ll do it.  It’s the least I could do for you today.

Muse:  Um…..I would like….a birthday kiss.

Is that it?

Muse:  Y-yes.  On the lips.

You’re beet red, but sure.  I’ll do it.  Here it comes….

Muse:  *SMOOOOOOOOOOOCH*

There.  Is there anything else that you want?

Muse:  Um, no! There isn’t!  I best be leaving now.  Bye!

Whoa.  She doesn’t need to hide it, but I think my Muse has a crush on me.

From that exchange, it looks like my Muse already gave me her gift.  I will also eat all of that cake. Man, am I going to feel that in the morning.

For today, I will be enjoying my birthday and will have a nice dinner at Genji Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bar tonight.  After that, my friend will come over for cake and ice cream.  Today’s high is going to be 78.  There’s supposed to be showers and thunderstorms later, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed.  So far, it’s been sunny.  The silver lining today is pretty obvious.  It is my birthday and my brother and I will be enjoying it.

To all of you who love birthdays like I do,  I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  Happy 29th birthday, Kyle!  I hope that yours is a really good one….
