This is it. This morning, I will be taking off with my brother and parents on a magical journey that will take me to the House of Mouse. The place where dreams come true. After 23 years, I never thought that I would experience this moment again. I am officially on my way to the Most Magical Place on Earth: Walt Disney World.
When I was 12 years old, I was in the sixth grade. During this time, it was back in August of 1996. With me, my brother, my sister, my grandparents have always given us “I Love You” gifts. They were usually small gifts given to us every they visited to show their appreciation and love for us. With my two cousins in the picture, they also provided “I Love You” gifts to them as well.
But during that August, I heard about them sending out what they called the Greatest I Love You Gift Ever. That month, I got the first clue to the gift. For the clue, I had to answer trivia questions pertaining to that clue. It was a Disney movie, and I wrote down my answers. In September, I received part II of the gift. It was more questions, with it being a similar activity to the first clue. More trivia and more Disney facts. Despite this, I still had no clue what the gift was.
Then October came. For Part III of the Greatest I Love You Gift Ever, I was given pictures of different Disney Characters, and I had to, with my brother and sister, name every single one. After this activity was over, my parents got out another package. This was sent with Part III of the Greatest I Love You Gift Ever. The package was in a large cardboard tube. Some kind of poster was inside.
My parents got the rolled up poster out of the tube and began unraveling it. What could it be? What could the Greatest I Love You Gift Ever be? The three clues that were sent had to do with Disney. But Disney what?
After they unraveled it all the way, my 12-year old self gazed at the poster. On the yellow construction paper was a map of the United States, with only the states of Michigan, Arizona, and Florida visible. From Arizona, there was a a line drawn through an airplane with the faces of my grandma, grandpa, Margo, Aunt Sherrie, and Uncle Kirk, with a line drawn from the plane all the way to Florida. There was a line drawn through another airplane from Michigan with the faces of Uncle John, Sean, Aunt Kari, my dad, my mom, my sister, me, and my brother, with a line drawn from the airplane all the way to central Florida. When I saw the Mickey Mouse ears on Florida, I figured it out and I freaked out. “WE’RE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD? AHHHHHH!!!!”
So it was official. On November 5, 1996, I went to Walt Disney World with my family, my grandparents, my two aunts and uncles, and my two cousins. Our vacation lasted from November 5th to November 11th, since our flight back on the 10th had an engine failure.
That trip back in 1996 was the trip of the lifetime, and I really enjoyed every minute. Now almost 23 years later, I get to do it again. And from right here, I’m going to cut it short, since I need to leave for the airport with my brother and parents.
Muse: Not yet! I just wanted to say one thing. I’m excited! Aren’t you?
Yes. Very Excited.
Twin Muse: We get to go to Disney World! Whoo hoo!
Time to wrap this up now. There will be more updates this week, so stay tuned for all the magic.
My Muse is currently 10 years and 8 months old today. She is 3’4.5″ tall and she weighs 32 pounds. The height and weight of a four-and-a-half-year old.
Today’s high is going to be 89 degrees and the silver lining is finally arriving in Walt Disney World after 23 years.
To those of you who like going on vacations of a lifetime, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.
Muse: I can’t wait until we get to the airport!
