Me & My Music – Day 1: Feeling the Melody

Having decided to finally quit my Me & My Muse blog once and for all, I decided that it was time to begin with a fresh new start.  From this point on, I will write a blog about music.  And not just any music, mind you.  My FAVORITE music.

Yes, I feel that this format will suit me well.  Towards the end, you saw all those short and choppy entries.  Those entries were not full of life like they once were and they left something to be desired.  Something that I feel like can be fulfilled with my exciting new format.  Music!

So just what is Me & My Music?  Just a no-nonsense fun blog where I will talk about all things music.  Particularly my favorite types of music and favorite songs.  You will even be able to hear about what I think about the current trends in the music industry.  To be honest, I have been wanting to talk about music for a very LONG time.  Do you remember Day 14?  I have been wanting to make a blog like this for almost six years, and now I finally get to do that by starting over from the beginning.

And it is my goal for this blog to get a lot more traffic than Me & My Muse. So for Me & My Music, I have decided to use a logo to promote my new blog.  If you’re looking for an awesome blog about music, just check out the note!

So you’re probably wondering, what’s going to be done with my Muse?  Are we ever going to see her again?  You won’t.  My Muse is officially in retirement, and she’s enjoying every minute.  But I don’t just want to share my love of music by myself.  I need to share it with someone who is as passionate about it as I am.  Ladies and gentlemen, please put your hands together for someone who knows how to carry a tune.  Give a warm welcome to…Melody!

Melody:  Hello everyone!  My name is Melody and I’m very happy to see you all here today!  As what Kyle just said, we are going to have just a wonderful time talking about our favorite pastime.  Music!  And just to let you know, we will be discussing all of our favorite genres of music.  Me and Kyle’s, of course!

That is absolutely correct, Melody.  And our favorite genre around here is Christian Music.  And for those of you who are not too keen on that, don’t worry.  I will also be discussing some of my favorite genres when I was growing up as a kid, plus a few rare gems of music that is actually good in today’s era.

Melody:  Yes.  And it’s actually interesting that you should mention rare gems.  To clarify to all of you, both me and Kyle are purists when it comes to music.  The autotune, the frequency of the chorus, and louder songs don’t make for quality music.  And yes, we’re talking about you, Dr. Luke.

Yeah.  I know!  It just bothers me to hear pop music that sounds like nails on a chalkboard.  Hearing YEAH! or some other stupid thing in the chorus is just getting old.  Everyone.  Let’s revisit the songs of old to see what we can learn from them.

Melody:  And we will most certainly do that!  But first, to kick off this first post and get this new series off to a right start, let’s begin with our spotlight artist of the day.  Kyle?

Thanks Melody!  It’s time for something greater!  In seeing so many of the broken things in this world, it’s time for us to do something about it instead of going through the motions.  Who is this Spotlight Artist of the Day?  Show some forgiveness for me procrastinating here, but it’s going to be so worth the wait.  Grace wins in this battle, making me strong enough and my brokenness is mended.  So without further ado, I give you all Matthew West!

So, what did you all think?

Melody:  I know what I think, Kyle!

What?

Melody:  My name is “Child of the One True King”.

No it’s not!  It’s Melody!

Melody:  We CAN have more than one name, you know.

Very well then, “Child of the One True King”.  In looking at the Spotlight Artist of the Day, I chose Matthew West because of his fresh and bold lyrics.  He doesn’t mince words.  He tells it like it is.  And if you have ever heard “Do Something”, it is a very powerful song.

Melody:  Isn’t it?  At the end of the song, I just have to do something!  I usually donate to a charity or help at a soup kitchen.  I mean, if not you, then who is going to do it?

Exactly.  Mr. West deserves every bit of this honor today.

Aside from that, this will be the typical format. I have so many fun ideas planned.  For one of them, I will periodically provide my own detailed analysis of the current trends that I see in the music industry.  Also look for my Blast of the Past segment, where I dig into an artist that I listened to when I was growing up.  This will take place during Flashback Fridays, so stay on the look out for that!

Melody:  I can’t WAIT to talk about the songs of yesteryear!  So many good ones!  Ooh, I can’t wait!

So ladies and gentlemen, I thank you very much for giving this Me & My Music segment.  This is the new normal, so it will take some time to fine tune.

Melody:  That it will!  We’ll get it right.  Don’t worry!

Oh, and for this new format, there is no weather forecast for today.  So look up the weather for the high if that bothers you.

To all of you out there in musicland, keep tuning in for the latest and freshest perspectives on all of my favorite tunes!

And if you’re still around, consider yourself lucky.  YOU get to see a bonus sneak peek of what I plan on writing for day two of this awesome new project.  This is what I have so far…

APRIL FOOLS!

Do you honestly think that I would ever end a series like this?

Me & My Muse is here to stay, and I have no plans on ever ending it.

*Melody transforms back into Muse*

Muse: Phew! That’s good to hear.

Me & My Muse will resume tomorrow, as scheduled. For now, enjoy this day full of jokes and pranks.

Today’s high is going to be 45 degrees and the silver lining is enjoying the pranks that this day has to offer.

To all of you who love practical jokes, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse: I wonder if Kyle found the invisible whoopie cushion that I planted on the floor in his room? When he sits down near his laptop…ooh! I just can’t wait! Hee hee!  Phew!  That Melody was a lot of fun to do!  I wonder if I should…why not?

*Muse transforms into Melody*

Melody:  Me & My Muse is no more!  It’s time for Me & Melody!  Tee hee!
