Me & My Muse – Day 1310: For the Want of a Nail

Have you ever been nearly finished with a task and got interrupted from it?  This happened to me today,.  In spite of this, things turned out for the better.

For that task you are about to complete one thing keeps interrupting you from it.  You are so close to getting that task done, but the obstacles are now beginning to surround you.  With this a couple more minutes, I could finish this.

For the want of a nail!

I was working on dough this morning, and I had the last two trays ready to put away.  The last tray still needed to be filled.  Once filled, all the remaining trays could get put away and dough would be done.  But the interruptions began.  The ovens were beginning to back up.  So I went to ovens and took care of everything.  Then I went back and put the dough away.  Phew!

Dough was finished in the nick of time, as the lunch rush was starting at an unusual time.  It wasn’t too bad, and I was able to keep up the whole time.  Ovens, food production, sheetouts, register, I handled each one seamlessly.

All in all, it was a very productive morning.

Muse:  I’m very glad to hear that!

So, did you talk to the king?

Muse:  I talked to daddy and he keeps insisting that you are not welcome!  What is his problem?  I am NOT a child anymore!

Maybe you should tell him that.

Muse;  Tell him again?  I have already told him numerous times!  He cannot see me for who I am now.  To him, I am still “daddy’s little girl”…

What about the queen?

Muse:  Mommy sees me as a young lady.  She thinks that I should have the freedom that I deserve.

The freedom to leave the castle when you want?  You sneaked out again, didn’t you?

Muse:  Yes.  And I am also sulking in my room.  Mommy knows about the clone.  She won’t tell daddy, though…

Should I try infiltrating the castle?  I can visit you in your room…

Muse:  Don’t try.  If daddy catches you, you will be thrown into the dungeon!  A few men that have tried to win my heart did this, and they’re still in that dungeon to this day.

I won’t try then.  It’s not worth rotting in a dungeon to see you…

Muse:  It’s better this way.  Me sneaking out and visiting you…

And seeing your pretty dress…

Muse:  Yes!  I have a lot of different dresses.  There’s a vast room that has nothing but my clothes in it! Half of that room has just dresses.

I can imagine.  Will you try to reason with him again?

Muse:  What does it matter?  He will give the same response as before.  There is no reasoning with daddy.  I give up!

So you’re just going to sulk with your clone and see me everyday?

Muse:  Yes.  Daddy doesn’t ever want me to leave.  I’m like a caged bird.  Locked in my cage with no way to escape.

Except for generating a clone and sneaking out anyway…

Muse:  Ha ha!  Yes.  But that’s a secret between you, me, and mommy. I will see the world, and sulk in the castle all at the same time!

Quite ironic, huh?

Muse:  Yes, but as far as daddy is concerned, I am in my room right now.

Sulking away…

Muse:  Sulking and…oh.  I just cried myself to sleep.

Okay.  I am going to get ready for later..  Try to reason with him if you can.

Muse:  *sigh* Daddy is beyond reasoning.  He will never let me leave the castle or let you in!  Ever!  Farewell for today, my dear Kyle…

*Muse kisses me on the cheek and vanishes*

Poor Muse.  She should be able to see the world.  This is unfair.  Hopefully, I will be able to visit her soon…

Today’s high is going to be 40 degrees and the silver lining is going to Toastmasters later tonight.

To those of you who like evening events, I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

*Muse clone vanishes and Muse appears in her room, sleeping*

Muse:  Why is this rain so warm?  Oh, it’s tears.  What a depressing dream!
