Me & My Muse – Day 208: I am Error: Part II

Cutting to the chase,  my computer has a bad virus.  It’s a trojan called Bamitol.  You can look it up if you want to know the full details.  All I can say is that it’s a threat and it needs to be removed immediately.

Muse:  I know that this is a bad time, but it worked.  The current Muse is in a coma and I’m possessing her body right now.

Nice.  Now, regarding my computer, it’s going to be worked on for a couple weeks.   The person that I talked to said at least 10-15 days.  This means that I am typing this from another computer.

Muse:  Another thing.  I changed her hair and got rid of her stupid mansion.  I can’t live in a house that big….

Okay.  That’s nice….

Muse:  Sorry.  I’m just happy to be in my body again.  Now, this virus is a lot worse than the deselection problem from Day 113, right?

Yes.  A lot worse.  That is why I am acting on it so quickly.

Muse:  What does it do?

It plays a lot of annoying ad-sounds in the background.  They can’t be stopped, and they’re not coming from any browser.  They’re loud ads, news clips, music, and other things.

Muse:  Urr….That has to be very annoying!

Absolutely.  It got so bad that I had to mute the sound on my computer.

Muse:  So it’s audio related?

That’s only the half of it.  It can install renegade security programs and other malware.  To put things in perspective, I did a quick scan with Malwarebytes and it didn’t get rid of it.

Muse:  That is pretty bad.

It gets worse.  This trojan can self-mutate and can disable already installed security software, modify system files and doesn’t forget the installation of additional malware.

Muse:  That is terrible!  I hope that your computer gets fixed soon!

I am taking the computer to the Geek Squad to get it fixed.  It will take two weeks at the most to fix it, since they have so many computers to work on before mine.

Muse:  Well, take it easy.  Thank the person who’s letting you use their computer.  I am going to catch up on some reading.  Bye!

For the next two weeks, this is going to be the reality.  Expect shorter posts and updates, as using this other computer is only a favor and a privilege.

Today’s high is going to be 25 degrees and the silver lining is getting my computer to Geek Squad so that they can fix it.

To those of you who have ever dealt with a computer virus before,  I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Muse:  That trojan sounds really bad.  Who in their right mind would go through the trouble to make something this destructive?
